LadyGazelle wrote:Thank you for the information about possible spondylosis yesterday. I have found a chiropractor that is NUCCA certified in Rochester, NY and will be requesting an appointment on Monday if she takes Medicaid. (probably doesn't)

But I do want to tell her how she can help others with MS by opening up their veins with chiropractic treatment if they have those issues. I'll let you know what I find out.

Her name is Dr. Irene Adamczuk (For those who don't know, NUCCA stands for National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association and there are only 21 in the United States if my sources are correct). Very gentle, as I understand, with no cracking or twisting!

Lady Gazelle
Hello Lady Gazelle,
According to Dr. Chuck Woodfield of NUCCA's research division, Dr. Adamczuk is the best NUCCA doctor in the northeast and she has over 32 years experience. I'd say you are a lucky Lady Gazelle. Keep me posted and if you can post your upper cervical x-rays for us to see of have the doctor post them if possible.

Hi Dr. Flanagan,

Reporting in that my adjustment is holding! It's amazing to me that my numb feet are related to my spine and that I've suffered with them -- all degrees and intensities -- for 30 years. I always thought my numb feet were caused by many near encounters with frost bite from winter activities in the mountains like big game hunting in the high peaks region and downhill skiing at Whiteface Mt. where temperatures could often go far below zero.

But after five or six adjustments and some missed appointments that allowed numbness to return and intensify, I am 100% certain my foot numbness is related to my upper cervical spine -- without the numbness, I can walk!

I am my own case study, as my husband says. The very same ups and downs that occurred with my foot numbness also occurred with my killer torso shark bite, again proving beyond a shadow of doubt that the worst pain I've ever felt in my life is caused by the terrible condition of my upper cervical spine -- without the shark biting me, I can get out of bed!

I'm hoping for even more of my neuro symptoms to be helped once my C1 adjustment holds more permanently and other chiro work can begin lower on my spine. While I do have lots of other below-the-neck symptoms that I'd love to be helped, I'm curious to discover whether or not any of my above-the-neck symptoms, such as fatigue, ON, tinnitus, and even psych symptoms, will also be helped.

Thank you again, Dr. Flanagan -- you've made this the best Christmas season I've had in over ten years. Hopefully, I will be able to find a way to properly thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Happy Holidays!

Hello Blossom,

Your welcome.
Based on your history in which you fell hard on your right knee about two years ago, which was the start of your problems with leg weakness, and the x-rays you sent me for review, you need a thorough low back, pelvic and leg exam.

In this regard I would recommend that you contact Dr. Drew Fanelli in Pittsburg. Dr. Fanelli is board certified in chiropractic orthopedics.
His phone number is 412-494-4550.

Let me know if his office is close enough for your convenience and if he has a restroom and access for wheelchairs.

thank you dr. flanagan, i will be on the phone tomorrow checking this out.
it amazes me how many different types of chiropractors there are. as i've said before, i wish i would have been aware of all this yrs. ago but it is what it is now. and, i have to keep telling you that i appreciate your time and "patience" with me.

to me my x-rays looked like an older house that a mud slide was takeing out the basement-made the walls bulge and the roof is tipping. it needs a lot of repair. i just hope it's not beyond. if i don't try i'll never know. wish i could trade it in on a newer model.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help us. I have a problem I was hoping you can help me with.

I have two lesions on my spinal cord. I used to have electrical shock but it has faded away. My major problem is my hands (palms and fingers on both sides) that they feel weird and sometimes burning sensation. I cannot describe the feeling.

I have recently realized that when I bend my neck backward, after 5 to 10 minutes, my hands feel normal which is really exciting (I realized it when I started doing Yoga about a month ago). However when I tilt my head forward (e.g., reading a book or typing) my hands get really bad that make me cry sometimes especially when I am at work.

I have talked to many PwMS but none of them have the similar issue. So I was wondering if you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Hello Goldamier,
Has anyone checked you for thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS)? Do you have any curvatures of the spine?
Hi again:

Happy Holidays. Thanks for responding to me. I really appreciate you sharing your time and valuable knowledge with us. The answer to both of your question is no. Can you please tell me where to start? I live in Toronto, Canada. Thanks again

Hello Goldmeir,
Because of your MS diagnosis and signs and symptoms of suspicious thoracic outlet syndrome and Lhermitte's sign I would recommend you see an upper cervical chiropractor.
There are several NUCCA doctors in your area which have passed the Level 1 certification but none with higher certifications. One of the doctors is Dr. Tania Siqueira at 416-445-9355. Another doctor is Dr. Elaine Doyle at 519-880-9615. There is also a Kale Brainstem upper cervical chiropractor. His name is Dr. Touraj Najafian at 46-483-5433.
Keep me posted.

Blossom,
Do a Google search for DABCO. Go to their website and find a doctor close to you and let me know which one.

Nigel,
When the doctor put you on pelvic blocks, were you face up or face down?

Face down, and the one on my left was higher on my hip, the right was more on the joint or top of thigh lower than the other side.
Had an interesting experience Boxing Day. I have made a swing for the kids to swing out into the river at home. I had a turn, not letting go into the river though. On the return my feet brushed/whacked the bank a couple of times and I felt out of balance, then completely lost all scene of balance. Didn't know if I was right way up or up side down. Came right after a minute or so and had bad headache for the next twenty four hours. I think I had a whiplash type of neck strain, and I flexed my neck as often as I could to free it up. It has now normalized but I am very weary of it happening again. Very unnerving and nauseating felt like my head was going to explode!
All good now though.
Edited. Just remembered I would have been holding my breath and hanging on to the rope big time. Vasalva type reflux?

hi dr. flanagan, i found dr. craig weimer dc ccsp dabco---midtown chiropractic--phone no. 724-437-4020. he is in my hometown.

ironically, i had went to him some yrs. ago. at that time i really paid no attention to types of chiro.'s. someone said he was good and i tried him. what i recall is vague and more than likely since i was not getting relief in a certain time frame and money matters at that time is probably why i stopped. i'm not sure if he was a dabco chiro. back then.

if you have a way of checking him out if you feel necessary i'd appreciate it.

if he ends up being the starting point, i plan on filling him in on ccsvi and you and how much advice from you has helped us here and that i am still going to seek your advice when needed. if he has not heard of you, he will, because i got a couple extra copies of your book and i plan on giving him one.

I have gone back to see the chiro 4 times once a week with each time my right being shorter and him having to make an adjustment to the atlas.
My question is should I start seeing him twice a week to always keep my atlas in alignment till it stays in alignment or even though my atlas goes out of alignment every week, correcting it once a week will eventually lead to my atlas staying in alignment?
