bestofmom, i have read your post ever since i found tims. i am so happy you are recognizing and comprehending dr. flanagan's important part in what they have named these symptoms called ms. as i have felt forever that we all have these symtoms but from different causes and thus there can be nothing overlooked.
ccsvi caught my attention when i read it could in some cases be brought on by trauma. i too have no brain fog or bad fatigue and no brain lesions except 1 on my cervical but the rest is similiar to you. only i've been at this for 20 yrs. and developed scolosis and the stenosis from all this stress on the spine so mine is not a cut and dried case. you said when you move your head a certain way you get the electric shock where when i position my head in a tilt up i can move better. my chiro. is trying to get a better mri "which mainstream is giving me grief at the present time. i have bone spurs in a critical area that could be avery important factor. then i'll be doing nucca. neurologist despite my pleas totall wrote me off when it came to these issues.
i can't say enough good about my chiro. i really feel he wants to help all he can and i don't get that from too many.
dr. flanagan's research and knowledge i had never been fortunate enough to encounter until now. i hope it's not too late for me but hopefully more are made aware and at least give it a sincere chance for some it may not be the total answer but it will do no harm and that is a hugh plus.
something has to be done that chiropractics and other alternative treatments are recognised and accepted as much as what they call mainstream. ccsvi is only alive because ms patients are insisting--but to get this figured out we have to get dr. flanagan's work in there and more.
i gave my chiro. one of dr. flanagan's book and i plan on getting a few more out there.
i wish you the best in all this. please keep us posted.

Michelle, I think you should get some descent x rays of your cervical spine and let Dr Flanagan see them yesterday if possible.bestadmom wrote: had double vision in my left eye in 1998, and was diagnosed in 4 days w/a brain mri (one lesion) and spinal tap. I had no symptoms until the summer of 2006 when I started to limp on my left side. At that point I had my first spinal mri's - c-spine, lumbar annd thoracic, and all my lesions are in my c-spine. I went downhill very fast and by June 2008 stopped driving and was in a chair full time. I have no use of my legs and feet, although I can transfer and lock my knees. My left hand is weak, and the right is getting weaker. I have electric shocks in my upper left arm which come and go depending on the position of my head. If I look up or to the left it comes.
hello everyone,
I've not been on here in ages because cog fog and fatigue take over most of the time these days. I'm going to visit a nucca practitioner on Friday in London for the first time. From looking on the web there is only one in the UK but if anyone knows differently then please let me know - I want to try this before thinking about a 2nd attempt at CCSVI.

Blossom, I am with you 1000% and I'm glad I stopped reading the Scorpion/Lyon threads and found some real hard core info, which is what drew me to TIMS in the first place. I think that specific doctors better stop taking ownership of certain diseases and realize that it's about making our whole beings well.
I know my next liberation isn't going to stick if the beams are in the way of the pipes. I want the carpenter involved so the plumber can be successful. I'm not telling the electrician.
And CN, I want those x-rays, and can't wait to send them to Dr. Flanagan. They aren't taken on the first visit, which is a 30 minute consultation, but the equipment is in the drs office. I'm going to dig out my mri disks from 2006 to see what my neck looks like, too.

Hello Blossom,
Thanks for your words of support and wisdom despite your difficulties. I suspect, due to the curvatures in your spine, that your neck is in flexion, forward of the normal gravity line for upright posture. Neck flexion puts tension in the cord. When you flex your head further toward your chin you increase the strain and most likely pull the brainstem too close to the base of the skull, which can increase pressure on nearby nerve centers. It can also cause a Lehermitte's sign, among other things. Tilting your head backwards reduces the strain and pressure acting on the brainstem.

hi dr. flanagan, dr. weimer has mentioned what i think you are talking about. the could b's. i am schedueled for an mri next. fri. i hope this goes without any more static. when i talked to the girl today they are supposed to do the cervical with flex extension. i'm probably using the wrong words but my paper is not here right now. dr. weimer had talked to them. i told her if they weren't going to do what he was talking about then please don't make me waste my time. hopefully it goes ok. i tried to get fulll spine but a no go.
hopefully this will give more insight. as to what you are speaking of and also the bone spur issue.
being that i had no spinal issues such as stenosis or scoleosis until after the fall in 1990 and then the scoleosis did not come about until i started to compensate to try to walk through the yrs. but, i did have the tilt head thing going on when my symptoms first started then.
but, the whack at the base of my skull i got in the mid 70's did cause tingling in my left hand and foot but traction helped that. and that area is where the spurs are too. which dr. weimer is very interested in. and i am too.
so when the verdict is in if possible. then what? what you are talking about is there a way to help correct? do you feel i'd have any hope? then the spurs??
i guess wait and see what can be seen.
the original plan was get the pelvic straight , get the thoracic as good as i can and then nucca. but, i'll try to do whatever it takes.
it is me thanking you for your support. for me, and the others you are helping here. your research and knowledge just has to be acknowledged--along with the chiropractic practice of other good doctors. it is way over due.
my biggest regret is that i did not come across this early on in my illness and search.

The respiratory center, situated in the brain stem, increases or lowers breathing in order to maintain pH according to the Henderson-Hasselbach equation. Hence, to maintain pH, the ratio of acidic CO2 to alkaline bicarbonate in the cerebral-spinal fluid needs to remain constant. Since the blood-brain barrier is extremely permeable to CO2, this is readily accomplished by regulation of breathing. To compensate for high acidity the CO2 has to be kept low. This leaves the body tissues with low CO2 levels.

Hello Blossom,
You have most likely reached maximum improvement in the pelvis and throacic spine. The cervical MRI will show the extent of spondylosis and stenosis in the neck which is where I suspect most of the compression is occuring. Upper cervical correction such as NUCCA may be able to relieve some of the pressure, espcecially in the upper cervical spine, the most critical area, but it can't reverse degeneration in the lower cervical spine. Abnormal curvatures in the spine cause functional stenosis because they pull the cord and vertebral veins toward the inside of the curvature thus narrowing (stenosis) the space between the cord and spinal canal. Degeneration of the bones, discs and connective tissues of the spine sometimes invade the spinal canal and cause stenosis. In a case like yours the combination of both conditions compounds the problem.

whooaah, things don't look too promising for me. but, until i give it my best shot i'll not know. so i'm in this for the long run. there are no side effects-no worry that i'll loose a vein or my liver is gonna start to glow or worse. it will either help or it won't. of course i hope i to get some relief. at this point i'll take whatever good i can.

Hi Doctor Flanagan, Thank you for answering all those post. I am interested in the Peony and Licorice formula you mentioned in one of your posts, since it worked on you could you let me know where you bought it? The reason I am asking is that I have used herbs before with varying degrees of potency and I would hate to buy a product that is so diluted or that has other toxins in it so it would not work for those reasons.
Also I am interested to hear if you know of a good nucca doctor in California, I read though the whole thread and you got me more than interested. I have had plenty of traumas, an emergency room regular. Lots of back problems and concussions.
