Two more research groups said they couldn't confirm the idea that obstructed veins in the head and neck are responsible for multiple sclerosis.

The pair of studies, conducted in Europe with a total of more than 100 MS patients and 40 healthy controls, were presented here at the American Academy of Neurology's annual meeting. Both found no difference in the direction of venous blood flow or the presence of stenosis between patients and controls.

These were the latest attempts to replicate -- or refute -- an astonishing report in 2009 by Paolo Zamboni, MD, of the University of Ferrara in Italy, and colleagues, in which nearly every MS patient they studied showed stenosis and venous reflux with ultrasound exams. its funny how every study performed by neurologist is negative but everyone else shows positive results.

hello all,

I think it's a problem with the nutrition of the cells that underlies all this: with very severe strictures, the problems show up at a young age because insufficient glucose is supplied, the endothelium reacts and causes the inflammation, etc; with less severe strictures, the problems come at mid-age because then -on top of an already poor nutritional condition- calcification occurs (= problems with aerobic glucose / Krebs cycle / ATP metabolism) which will then cause the inflammation of the endothelium..

So again, I've said it before, as long as the nutrition dimension is not taken into account, this problem will not be resolved.

Dr. Fox sounds like a true scientist ...... he sees the idea ..... and it's
merit ....... but is reserving judgement ...... until there is some uniform
procedures in place .

That is what everyone wants .

So ..... what's your plan Dr. Fox ? You won't find any shortage of volunteers , in the event of a large CCSVI Trial .

I've had 4 doppler assessments followed by venograms. None of the doppler results have matched the venogram results. As Dr Haskal said recently, CCSVI assessment and treatment is more art than science. I doubt much is going to be proven one way or the other by superficial studies.
