Stress doesn't raise risk of MS: study

Post by lyndacarol »

"Previous research has suggested that in people who already have the chronic disease – which affects the brain and spinal cord – stressful events make flare-ups more likely. In the new study, the authors looked at whether stress raised a woman's risk of getting the disease, and couldn't find a link."

Greek,

Aside from totally agreeing with you on each of your points, I will add the following...

Who made the determination that nurses had jobs that were more stressful than any other occupation? Why were they the only occupation chosen for the study?

Am I missing something? What does stress from sexual abuse have to do with MS? Maybe these people went through therapy? We don't know.

I think it actually funny that one academic (USC) questions his peer at Harvard. Could it be because he wasn't asked to assist in this pathetic waste of money?

Even sadder is Neurology for thinking it was worth publishing.

Take the same number in ms patients and follow their disease studying progression or virus or venous abnormalities or whatever. Even if stress didnt relate to ms who gives a flyin f!?@ im sorry i just cant rationalize this study and beyond that the initiative of the national ms society to even post something so rediculous bewilders me!!
I wonder if my disability would have been as pronounced had i been layi g on a beach sipping margAritas the last 20 years as opposed to building a business a house a family worrying about lifes pressures? DAmn i wish this study would have come out years ago id be running in a 3k as opposed to bumping walls with my wheelchair. Brilliant work. Bravo!

One last thing then im off my soapbox with help of course. How long will they tell us 400000 people have ms? I have 4 people at work alone which accounts for basically 20percent. We all know people who know people that know others with ms. How about studying that you big bad researchers? Ok im done Promise

It shows how stupid the NMSS really is...if they would update their numbers, there would be more funding for research. Oh wait! That would just mean more @#! studies that line the pockets of academia and every other useless bureaucrat wanting to waste money. Maybe kickbacks to the NMSS???

Think about it, if everybody knows somebody with MS, these numbers probably correlate to something that would make headlines for weeks!
