DR ARATA

Post by dania »

Mike Arata
For most patients valves are the issue. When scarring occurs and the vein shuts down the issue is not getting thru the obstruction....its how do you keep the vein open once you get thru the blockage. In any other vein you would use a stent. NOT in a jugular vein. Jugular stents, especially the entire length of the jugular have poor durability. Nobody in the world has treated more occluded jugulars then myself. I can tell you we don't have the answer for keeping the vein open. That is the problem. The RF wire will help get thru the hard occlusions no doubt. But how do we keep the vein open afterward????

Hi Dania,
I am not clear. Is this a response by Dr. Arata to a question you asked? It is nice to have another doc willing to interact with patients to educate and answer question.

Hi Lucky125

I don't want to hijack this thread but I noticed that you have had a few treatments and one of the questions I had is if you are still maintaining improvements? Have you had issues with scarring?

Thanks for any feedback you can share.

Hi Nicole. Dr Arata responded to one of my postings. I have been treated by him and he does answer emails.

In the situation he's describing, I don't think there are any great options. A stent may be the best of the bad options, because even with poor durability, it has a chance at working. What is the alternative? Leaving it be, I suppose.
