Montel's announcement
Re: Montel's announcement
Cece,
Because of his high profile and position, he is a great asset for America to have, he has covered the Atlas issue, He.s had Ann Boroch on his show discussing how she was once disabled and is now ok.
its all so interesting and to have all these things on record is great eh!

Re: Montel's announcement
It's not this coming week, according to these listings: http://www.locatetv.com/tv/dr-oz-show/6 ... 2-Sep-2011
And if it's true that it's in September, that leaves only the week of the 26th.
edited: it's not in the listings for the week of the 26th either! C'mon Dr. Oz, I don't need to lose weight while winning a million dollars and I already know why my doctor thinks I'm crazy (it's because I had CCSVI treatment!)...we wants Montel!

Re: Montel's announcement
Has there been any news on the air date for this show? I just checked the episode descriptions for this week's shows on my DVR and didn't see any mention of Montell.
Re: Montel's announcement
It's not next week, according to the schedule listings. Maybe November sweeps?
Re: Montel's announcement
Hopefully not going the CBS Evening News route. Big players+Big Money+Big Stakes=decisions made for reasons beyond our power to control or influence. Another thought struck me watching his show yesterday, TV shows live and die on a moment's notice based on ratings, audience share and the like, which directly translate into advertising dollars (obviously), Dr Oz's producers seem to be gearing the shows towards just that, at least until the audience base #'s find their equilibrium. Hence the "not too controversial but broad based appeal" topics like weight loss, boosting metabolism, age of your sex organs, heaviest woman on earth, family grocery shopping challenges, 50 embarrassing health questions, how to lose 10% of one's weight, sweeteners causing weight gain, cures for chronic pain, the real age of your skin, achieving the best orgasm, 7 common health scams, near death experiences, 48 hour cleanse.....
Not much room left for topics like, "a procedure Montel had". I'm just scouring my brain trying to find any way they air this any time soon... I trust big money corporations about as far as can throw them, and they've gone out of their way to prove the sentiment is earned. Not to mention the politics involved.
Not sure how it's going to "help the cause" on a more practical level, raising awareness is a double edged sword, as I've stated before, law of unintended consequences and the like. Forcing insurance companies, universities, hospitals and associates to "state their position" ( which happens naturally when large groups suddenly converge, witness Canada), doesn't always drop the ball in our court, it can also cause said institutions to say NO. They prefer a more circumspect, cadenced approach. The only way they achieve that, is by blanket NO's, then very very slowly opening the spigot and releasing the revenue stream. This battle is going to be very long and protracted, much to the detriment of many an MS sufferer. Which makes word of mouth and the internet all the more powerful, after all, how many remember Amway in the 70's? Seemed like everyone knew someone who was selling overpriced soap.... Why can't we do the same kind of end run around mainstream media? After all, they rarely get it right the first time anyways.

Re: Montel's announcement
On Montel's facebook page, he is asking people to reply if they think HE should have his own daily talk show again. Apparently, he is doing well enough to want to get people excited about their favorite show coming back.
I was surprised at this. Perhaps he will wait and show his CCSVI procedure on HIS show. What do you think? Would this happen again? I thought he was done with a daily scheduled show.

i think november sweeps also.........even feb or may sweeps
Re: Montel's announcement
nothing next week. More faddish type rubbish. Some of it's interesting, but this thing appears to be going the CBS Evening News route. Bigger interests, bigger money, more influence. What else is new. Would have been nice I guess, but not really needed to further CCSVI. The show WILL go on.

Re: Montel's announcement
I worried about this show getting the shaft....if CBS evening news couldn't do it, I suppose sponsors could exert the same pressure on Dr. Oz...especially after his apple juice/arsenic kerfuffle, and the FDA going after him.CureIous wrote:nothing next week. I think his producers will be avoiding controversy.....and CCSVI isn't exactly non-controversial, as we've learned

the show, and research, will go on...you're right, Mark-

Pictures were posted a few days ago of Montel backstage at the Dr. Oz show. Was he filming an update segment for how he's doing three months post-procedure? He looks good; here's hoping he feels good.

Re: Montel's announcement
I just heard that there will be a piece on the Sunday11pm CTV news here in Ontario about Montel.
Re: Montel's announcement
"The only way I can figure out whether or not this works is if I do it myself," he said of the June 30 medical procedure, which involved a balloon angioplasty to open three narrowed veins in his neck and chest.
When his veins were unblocked, the effect was immediate, he told CTV News.
"That's when I immediately noticed the first difference," Williams said, in his first public comments about his personal experience with the procedure. "I got off the table and bent over to put on my shoes and I realized I wasn't holding on to anything."
While Williams says that the treatment isn't a panacea for all of his symptoms, he is adamant that the therapy has benefits for sufferers.
"We need to now bring all the doctors in this together in the United States and sit down in one room and talk about how we are all going to share this data, so we can move this process forward so much quicker," Williams said.
I love improvement reports. In summers past, Williams had travelled to South America to ski and escape the heat.
"I feel normal. This summer I stayed in New York," he said, adding that he experienced temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius. "This changed my life."

Re: Montel's announcement
Montel does not have control over what the Dr Oz show decides to do or not to do. He asked the show to cover his CCSVI procedure in order to share information about it with the masses but he is at their mercy when it comes to the timing and how the show chooses to cover it. They have since decided to make it a web piece and he is waiting to hear when it will be posted and he will advise everyone accordingly.
