Is this one long attack??

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Is this one long attack??

Post by Ry421 »

Hi there. I'm new to the board. An MRI in early April showed one C-spine lesion after symptomes consisting of band-like numbness around my entire left leg that began in mid-fedruary, as well as pretty severe constipation. I haven't had any relief at all from the numbness and now it is in my foot pretty intensely. I'd love to hear some feedback. Is this the same attack? Is it normal for an attack to last this long? The doctor hasn't prescribed any Disease Altering Treatments because he wants to see if more lesions pop up in my next MRI (early July). I've had a couple of rounds of oral steroids which have helped with the strength in my leg. I had a barage of blood tests which all came back "negative".

Any experiences would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Ry! From my own experience, it can take months for symptoms to resolve. When I was "officially" diagnosed three years ago, I had severe double vision which took about three months to get better. Unfortunately, my depth-perception is toast and I have some color blindness. I get constipation too, which is no fun. Mine mostly occurs about a week before my period. What I hate is that it's much more common now. If anyone has any brilliant ideas on ways to prevent it, I'm all ears!

As far as the blood tests go, I had a similar experience. I had optic neuritis about ten years ago and everything came back negative. I had an MRI, lumbar puncture, and a bunch of blood draws all for the doctors to say, "we don't know what's wrong with you!". They put me on Solu-Medrol for three days and then prednisone. Since then, I know I had symptoms that no one picked up on. I hope this helps!

Magnesium oxide powder, water & a squeeze of lemon juice. And stay home the next day! I would not recommend the "daily doses", but a "colon cleanse" dose, is true to its name.
