Hard to believe the placebo effect since Mary depicted in one of video's has hers from the beginning about ten years ago. If the placebo effect lasts that long I'll take it,

here's an abc story on this
http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?sectio ... id=8708999
The vest, called Balance Wear, is Gibson-Horn's creation. She says it is designed to compensate for involuntary movement and loss of balance using a system of counter weights. Velcro panels inside allow therapists to move the cube shaped weights around as they test the effect on patients.

"If the patient has a balance problem, and I can identify the directional losses of balance, then we can treat those by strategically placing those light weights in the balance vest and right away you'll know that same treatment, whether or not your patient is going to benefit," said Gibson-Horn.
I would think it's worth a try. Seems like a simple clever approach to the problem. Better than taking a pill!

I think if the vest helps to prevent bumping into things and reduces falling it would be a good thing

milesap, i know this isn't a placebo effect. Don't the neuro's call CCSVI nothing more than a placebo affect :?:

Yes I had CCSVI a few times but the jugulars have never stayed open more than four months. Each time they close balance goes out the window with increased headaches and fatigue no Nuero will get away with calling it a placebo effect. The vest is going to work or not I just don't see placebo here.

I'm confused as to how a balance vest helps so much when one is sitting down.

A balance vest could help pwMS who have trouble with their trunk muscles, e.g., muscle weakness, spasms, and tiredness. Some pwMS need to be strapped into their chairs or have their chairs reclined.
