Looking to purchase a WalkAide

Post by mdepascale »

Hello,

I am a stroke victim not a MS patient and looking to purchase a WalkAide. It was suggested that I register on this site because WalkAide's are available for sale here. I am 56 years old but suffered a stroke at the age of 23. I am unemployed (collect Social Security Disability) and have no medical insurance, my family would like to purchase it for me. I am obviously looking to purchase one as inexpensively as possible so it doesn't create a burden on my familly.

Thank you,
Mike.

Hi Mike, there have been many threads here, from those who are looking to buy, sell, or discuss WalkAides. Most of the posts are in the "Medical Devices" subforum at this link:

Good luck in your search!
Dx'd with MS & HNPP (hereditary peripheral neuropathy) 7/03 but must have had MS for 30 yrs before that. I've never taken meds for MS except 1 yr experiment on LDN. (I found diet, exercise, sleep, humor, music help me the most.)

Please take the following post into consideration before you make a purchase...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may not be aware that there are restrictions for selling the Bioness or Walkaide device in the after-market.

Apparently, it is unlawful to sell such a medical device unless you are a licensed Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider and the purchaser has a valid medical prescription for the device.

Sorry for the bad news but wanted to make sure you knew.
