Intro to me

Post by daydreamer11 »

Hi. I am new to this site, but have been diagnosed with MS for about 7 years. I do ok. I have some cognitive issues, neuropathy in my right leg, pain, heat and fatigue issues, bouts with double vision and a few random odds and ends. After all this time I still don't feel supported by my friends and family and have a hard time navigating the medical world and finding employment. I am grateful for the support I do get, but I still feel misunderstood and neglected at times. My husband has never even read a single book on MS and he has read hundreds of books because he is a PHD student. I'm looking to get information and support and give the same back. Hopefully make some like minded/experienced friends. It can be lonely at times with MS.

Have you ever asked your husband to read a book on MS? The one I like the best is Overcoming MS by George Jelinek. I also was dx about seven years ago, my wife has never read anything about MS. I think she just does not want to think about it. But I must say I have read everything I can get my hands on and she has been supportive of my best bet diet, and supplements. Maybe you can't get all the support you were would want but you can can ask.

Yes, I have asked and made suggestions right away and over the years. I don't think it's expecting too much, but maybe I shouldn't have shared it here. Thanks for the link though.

daydreamer – We invite you to share anything at all with us, your new friends. No topic is too embarrassing or too difficult; it is entirely your choice if you wish to share. But we want to help each other in any way we can.

Not knowing your husband, I can only guess that he may be one of those people who cannot empathize or feel another's pain or worry. Not everyone will have the same talents; he must have some very good qualities – you chose him.
