A case of kidney failure, dialysis, and multiple sclerosis

1eye's water filtering analogies lead me to google dialysis (gunk removal ) and multiple sclerosis. I ran into an interesting (but sad) piece about a woman on dialysis who developed multiple sclerosis which continued to progress despite the immunosuppressive effects of dialysis and kidney failure. She also used untreated (well?) water for her at-home dialysis. I've seen (haven't studied) posts here comparing CCSVI flow irregularities to those seen in dialysis so I thought this might provoke some thoughts and discussion.

It is of interest that the multiple sclerosis, a disease in which the immune mechanisms are felt to play a central role, proceeded at a rapid pace in spite of the relative immunodeficiency occasioned by the setting of renal failure and chronic dialysis.

She developed MS while on dialysis? Did they use the jugular as an access site?
Yes, the comparisons between CCSVI and dialysis have been because the use of the jugular as an access site for dialysis can lead to outflow obstruction in that jugular.
I would think that any toxins in the body due to the chronic kidney disease, combined with any outflow obstructions of extracranial drainage and subsequent blood-brain barrier breakdown, would be a very bad combination.
She had also been on dialysis for ten years, which means that if MS or CCSVI are chronic conditions there would have been time for them to develop (you wouldn't see MS develop the day after ligating both veins, but maybe in susceptible individuals you would see MS develop ten years after ligating both veins).

The woman also had dialysis encephalopathy but I don't know anything about that disease.

My mother had vasculitis. Her kidneys gave out, so she needed dialysis. Chronic disease aside, the medicine regime she was on might have done her kidneys in anyway. Most likely, though, I am told, it was the autoimmune vasculitis. Was on well water for the last 5 years of her life. No juggling jugulars in her case. Arm ports.
