What they allow in the UK should not affect trials done in North America. I would be surprised if the Albany/Saskatchewan trial does not offer sedation.
I don't think they are waiting for this forum to figure it out, or arrive at technical preferences, or decide when it's OK to start.
According to the government web site, isn't the registry kaput?

I am sure the Albany researchers are considering the publically stated opinion of a leading CCSVI expert and Professor of Inventional Radiology in New York State who says it is better to have an awake patient during the procedure. It is highly likely that the Ethics Committee who have to approve the study will be aware of DrS's opinion.1eye wrote:What they allow in the UK should not affect trials done in North America. It is a mis-conception that a robust trial must be single or double blinded. The NICE guidance in the UK made this clear for UK trials.
Kind regards,
