lead in gasoline

i read a few years ago that in the 1930s the percentage of women who got ms was smaller now it's 2/3. it was the 20s when they started putting lead in gasoline . i wondered after listening to this .

Most Countries had completely phased out lead in petrol by 2000. Furthermore prior to that there had been reductions in the content of lead in petrol and use of unleaded was widespread by the early 1990's.

i know it was phased out but was wondering if it's use caused the increase . plus we now live with the residue . anyway , i like what one woman said " it's one of the stupidest things we ever did ".
