another newbie

Post by titchie »

Hi, I have ms for 16 yrs. The first 12 sort of iffy with just one lesion, but a big impact on my body. luckily this improved. now for the the last 4 yrs diagnosis with many. Have been given Rebif and inject with the 22mg as I can't take the 44mg too many side effects. I have a problem with injection site very sore, itchy, lumpy, after 4 years very very fed up with it, on a bit of a downer I am afraid. Have been thinking of stopping and giving myself a holiday from the injections. Will I get some horrible withdrawel problems?

I was on Avonex for 10 years and stopped since my MS was progressing anyway. I did not experience any sudden rebound effect, but I have continued progressing. Everyone's course might be different though.

Have your considered switching to Avonex? Since it's an intramuscular injection, it doesn't have the injection site reactions that Rebif and Betaseron have. The worst that I had in 10 years was a nickel sized bruise that cleared up in about a day.
