Question about test result abriviations

Recently just recieved copy's of my actual test results and found them tpo be very confusing because of
abriviations like WBC,RBC,MCV etc...etc...

Basically looking for my vitamin level #'s and trying to figure out what these letters & numbers mean.

WBC: white blood cell
RBC: red blood cell
HEMO: hemoglobin
HEMA: hematocrit
PLT CT: platelet count
MCV: Mean Corpuscular Volume
MCH: Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin
MCHC: Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration
RDW: RBC Distribution Width
%LYMPH: % lymphocytes
%MONO: % monocytes
%EOS: % eosinophils
%BASO: % basophils

Anybody out there that can decode these for me?
Do you need the High ----Low #'s to compare with actual #'s?

H and L stand for high and low.

as you can see these are not vitamin and mineral tests... they are not status quo bloodwork. for some reason :S

And thank you for the links I bookmarked them for future use.

I had called the hospital where I had the blood tests done and asked for the actual test results
and they only gave me one that has the abrv's & #'s on it. All the other ones say refer to this or that page
for results.

Now I do have a bunch more test results/reports from all my Dr's on a cd and have looked at all of them
and only noticed 1 page similar to the one posted but It did have Glucose on the top, I will look through them again a little more carefully (lots of pages), But again alot of them are the refer to this,that page type.

The one thing that I did find in all those reports is they they have no clue why I have the trouble with my legs or my sx that I do, before and after surgery as nothing has changed other than things seem to be getting worse.

I probally should be using a walking stick or somthing but I dont go out in public much because of my issues and it's down right tiresome when I do go out.

Im going to an MS center specialist on Monday afternoon so I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Here is something to be aware of:

B12 issues can look exactly like MS (lesions and all.) A B12 test with "normal" results is NOT sufficient to rule out B12 issues.

I take a Vitamin B12 (1ml) injection every month. I do it myself at home, doc prescribes it. A lot of us have low Vit D and usually my endoncrinologist has to order that as one of the tests when they do the regular cbc like your test above. There are a lot of studies regarding the correlation between low Vit D and people with MS. My doc wants me to be on the high end of "normal" in the range. Besides a multi vitamin I take every day, I also take 50,000 u once a week, a capsule. The Vitamin B12 they are right, if low can give some symptoms that with or without ms can be troubling. I notice that I am less "sluggish" when I take my b12 shot (self injection) monthly. Every so often it becomes impossible to get it at the pharmacy it becomes one of the drugs that they can't keep up with. When I am out for awhile and others, have noticed depression related issues more amplified.

It's great that you are researching your results, etc. It will help if you make a list of questions so when you see your doctor you can have answers.

I changed up my multi vitamin to Gummy Vites for Adults, it gives me approx. 1600m per day of vit d and helps supplement my diet.

the constellation of nutrient deficiencies and/or imbalances in ms is fascinatingly interconnected.

b12 was my original entry point into nutrition research. i was a classic b12 deficiency case, but that's another story. basically b12 work did end up in the picture and I decided against injections b/c I wasn't keen on using cyanocobalamin. went for sublingual methylcobalamin instead.

have learned since that my b12 dose response would have been far better if I hadn't been zinc deficient at the same time! don't need nearly as much b12 to keep levels up now. what's in my food and multi does the trick. definitely was not the case in the early days.

same thing with vitamin d3. i used to take x amount of d3 and have my level go up by 50 nmol/L.. now with my zinc level replete if i take that much d3, my level will go up by 170nmol/L!! crazy change in dose response. just fascinating stuff all around

It is overwhelming how many nutritional and vitamin roles play in many things. I can actually tell when things are off with me. I am studying on this subject right now! Just wild how much we have to keep track of.
