Resveratrol combats ebv (study)...rituximab alternative?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

About that carrot juice and latent ebv apoptosis...have you seen this? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/22 ... stein-Barr Virus latent membrane protein 1 overcomes all-trans retinoic acid-induced apoptosis by inhibiting retinoic acid receptor-β₂ expression.

So, maybe resveratrol, which down regulates latent ebv lmp1, will compliment the effect of the carrot juice (downstream all-trans retinoic acid if I remember correctly).

Btw, carrot juice with apple and ginger is disgusting. Next stop carrots, tomato, hot sauce, and vodka! Okay. Maybe no vodka.

Thank God it's not onion juice we need!

The juicer makes a difference. I had a friend who made the same comments as you and her juicer was making the juice all thick and lumpy. The one I use makes it into a proper drink. Texture can make a big difference. Most days I buy mine on the way to work so they use a really good juicer. I do add a big chunk of fresh ginger into mine as well.

Regards

(ps if you think that tastes bad wait to you try L-Arginine in a glass of water or Olive Leaf Extract)

Thanks guys!

LC,
I'm trying to stick with that fresh is best thing so won't be going for the v8 juice even if it does taste worlds better.

Scott1,
My juice isn't chunky...just gross tasting...too sweet and cloying. I think going for a more savory taste will help. As for your other self torture/remedies, you may be waiting a veerrrry long time to hear how awful I think they are. :P

JL,
You are weird.

Check the ingredients label on the commercial V-8; then, shop at your local farmers' market to make your own.

Yes, carrot juice is naturally sweet. We get Bolthouse Farms organic carrot juice from Costco. It's unsweetened and the label indicates that every 8 oz glass has 14 g of sugar in it. I once had a doctor refuse to give me a fasting blood test after I told her that "all i had consumed" that morning was some carrot juice.

By the way, you may want to try some of Joe Cross' juice recipes.

Thanks NHE! I can't wait to try a couple of those. The gazpacho one looks super yummy.

I never thought to look at the sugar/calorie content of carrot juice. It shouldn't be allowed to have any calories based on the taste. Harrumph.

Have a hot date with hubbers to watch it this afternoon. Lol! He is going to hate it. The man has the worst diet ever...how am I the one with health issues?! It ain't right.

Btw, I've acquired the taste for plain old carrot juice. The more stuff you add to make it taste better, the grosser it gets. Kinda works out in the end because its a relief just to guzzle down plain carrot juice. :P

Hi Anonymoose,

I also found the bigger carrots have a nicer flavour than the little ones. I'm glad you are having it the way I do as I think the retinoids will have the best chance that way.
After you have been drinking carrot juice for a few weeks I would be interested if you develop a "frog in your throat" and have a really runny nose. This happened to me. Don't worry,it clears up quickly but mine was so full on that I developed a sinus infection and needed an antibiotic. Why I thought it may be related to the juice was I never felt unwell until the sinus infection but I was running like a tap. As EBV is lymphoproliferative I have wondered if the carrot juice was too much for the virus and the result is the mucus.

NHE,
Hubby is going to reboot. Holy cow! He grimaced and ignored until Phil had such great results. I'll juice along side but can't go full bore as I am already mostly vegan (since 05) and don't think it wise to drop my proteins.

Scott1,
I am actually craving another glass of carrot juice. What the heck is that?! I have a bag of giant organic carrots...good thing they weren't the small ones or I may have given up on day 1. I'll let you know if I get the frog.
