New mouse model of progressive MS sheds light on aggressive disease
Mice injected with CSF from PMS patients develop MS-like lesions.
A new mouse model of progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) promises to help researchers illuminate its pathophysiology. Massimiliano Cristofanilli, Ph.D., presented evidence at this year’s meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego of a new rodent model of progressive MS..... Re: New mouse model of progressive MS sheds light....
Interesting to note that they found demyelination in the mouse BEFORE there was any evidence of immune cell activity! Could this be what happens in human MS indicating some other mechanism takes place initially?
It is more than a long shot using MS mouse models to determine what happens in humans with MS but who knows what they may find down the line.
