Crazy story:

When my mother was young, she cut her finger on a thorn, and thought it was no big deal.

in following few days, she developed some local signs of infection and a black streak crawling up her arm. retrospectively, this was probably superficial phlebitis.

She actually didn't notice it at first until a friend pointed it out to her.

Her friend said, "Hey; you know there's this new thing available called penicillin for infection" [paraphrased]

My mother was treated and cured. Penicillin had just recently become available to the public.

If it weren't for that, my mother could have potentially had a serious or even fatal infection, and perhaps I wouldn't be writing this.

----------

I think there will be a constant battle between antibiotics and microorganisms. If antibiotics become less effective and infections more common and serious, it will incentivise the development new treatments. The government will have to create new policies. I doubt there will be a discrete post-antibiotic era, but we might be looking at more and more antibiotic-resistant infections.

There have been some infections reported with bacteria that demonstrate resistance to all known antibiotics. Older antibiotics with significant toxicity like colistin have grown in popularity due to antibiotic resistance.

Good video THX. Hopefully the recommended action will be taken. We may have to limited certain antibiotics to infectious disease specialists and to incentivise development of new antibiotics

When you eat meat that is not organic you will be eating antibiotics. When you drink water that has not been filtered properly you will be drinking antibiotics. They use more antibiotics in animals than in people. This has been approved by the FDA so it must be OK. There are natural antibiotics which bacteria have no defense against. Things like essential oils such a oil of oregano. Also colloidal silver has been used to kill bacteria and virus.

Oil of oregano isn't really an antibiotic. It functions more like an antimicrobial agent. In effect, it inhibits the growth of bacteria, but does not kill them. Several years ago I had an infection in my foot from a careless dermatologist that removed a suspicious mole and I tried taking oil of oregano for it. It helped initially, but as soon as I stopped taking it, the infection came back worse than before. A trip to the doctor to get some real antibiotics allowed my foot to finally heal after clearing up the infection.
