Need help with LDN!!!

I've had MS for the past 11 yrs, I highly dislike my neuro (Dr Rammohan) for many reasons. First, he knows absolutely NOTHING about nutrition and also thinks Dr Roy Swank is a "joke", this is a disgrace. He also refuses to write me a prescription for LDN.

My question is, what dosage did you guys start out with? 1.5mg? Also, the compounding pharmacy I found informed me the Naltrexone would come in capsules made of gelatin. This is a HUGE no no. I REFUSE to consume any gelatin, it is nasty stuff (full of GMO) etc. They then informed me they could give it in another form without gelatin... I think they mentioned "liquid form".

Anyone here using LDN that does NOT contain gelatin?

I am desperately looking how to get prescription for LDN.

I started with 3mg and went to 4.5mg after a month but I am a "bigger" guy. I have heard great things about the liquid form in that you can start at 1mg and increase by 0.5mg weekly until you feel stiff in your joints then back it off. Most people settle between 3mg and 4.5mg though.

I dont understand your fear of the capsules, they are typically made with beef bones with all fat and salts removed so no GMO in it and they weigh almost nothing. But to each there own.

Great, thanks for your response. I am incredibly upset my neuro refused to write prescription for it. I found another neuro who does use LDN but he is too far from where I live.

Now I am desperately searching for ways I can get prescription. It appears I should start out with 1.5mg dose?... or it appears others are starting with higher dose? I am 5 ft 8in weigh 120 pounds if that is of any help.

I will be using the liquid form however as I do not want to consume gelatin.

You might try a naturopth who is able to write prescriptions. There are several in my town that write prescription for LDN according my compounding pharmacy. Be sure to ask if they are able to write prescriptions before you go to the appointment though. Alternative medicine practitioners can be little more than internet qualified quacks looking to make a quick buck. Be sure the one you see has the training and can back it up with a license to write prescriptions.

oh, how cute. The neuro says no. So did mine. haha. So I spent 80 bucks and ordered some from India. For 80 bucks you get ten tablets. Each tablet is 50 mg. You dissolve the 50 mg into 50 ml of distilled water, then put it in your fridge. To take your dose, you use a plastic measuring syringe, (found at any super market for a few bucks), and draw up the mixture into a droplet. Each ML equals one MG. You squirt it into your juice, and off you go. I take the 3mg. so I get 16 doses per tablet, or 160 doses per order. That's 50 cents per dose/day. Cheaper than arguing with a doctor about it. I know it's safe

Interesting, thanks for your reply. I am disgusted my neuro refused to write prescription. He says he doesn't believe in LDN, doesn't believe in Dr Roy swank (this is laughable!!!). Also doesn't believe in Dr John Dougall. Doesn't believe nutrition has anything affect on MS. Again, laughable!!! Scary MDs like this exist.

I found other neuro's who does use LDN but too far from me unfortunately. So a friend had me email his GP as he says his GP might be able to help. I am now awaiting his reply. Keeping fingers crossed.

I started at 1.5 mg and every 2-3 weeks I increased the strength by .5mg. I'm now at 4.5mg. My Drs. would not write a rx for me so I decided to order it online. at www.ldnscience.org. The bottle reads: Dextrose (as a filler). Free of lactose,
sucrose, cellulose, Avicel, gluten, yeast and common allergens. It is in capsule form, I don't know if caps are all gelatin.
I did find a pharmacy that compounds into tablet form. And you do not have to mix with water. They will make any strength your Dr. prescribes. I hope this has helped you and if you'd like any more info., please pm me.

Thank you so much, that was really helpful! From that I found a couple MDs. I will contact them ASAP. One of the MDs that showed in the list was a veterinarian, so I will not be contacting that one of course LOL.

Regarding gelatin, please see below. I was on tecfidera which comes in gelatin capsules which I was NOT happy about!
