If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Does this offer hope for PWMS who have spinal lesions

Post by David1949 »

Does this offer hope for people with MS who have spinal lesions?

Four men paralyzed after bad spinal cord injuries can all move their legs again, thanks to an electrical stimulator.

Astonished researchers say they’d hoped for some result, but nothing like what they got. They think the stimulator is retraining the mens’ nerves to work with the brain again, despite the terrible damage.

“This is wonderful news. Spinal cord injury need no longer be a lifelong sentence of paralysis,” said Dr. Roderic Pettigrew, director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, one of the National Institutes of Health. “It is just downright marvelous.”

Would be wonderful. But, does the degenerative and progressive nature of MS preclude such a response?

I look at like being in a leaky row boat. If you can bail faster than the water is coming in then you're ok.

does that explain Terry Wahl's recovery. If it were all diet, why did her test subjects not see improvement after a year on the plan?

There are any number of reasons that some of Terry Wahl's patients may not have recovered. They may have cheated on the diet, they may have taken the drugs along with the diet, they may have gotten the flu shot, they may be drinking too much fluoride, and they may have damaged their bodies beyond repair. Terry Walh's diet which consist of mainly raw fruits and vegetables whilch is an ideal diet but diet is not the only thing to consider. Dr. Bergman tells us we need exercise, proper sleep and prayer and meditation. I would like to throw one more aspect which is important in healing. We have to believe in something in order for it to work. Our mind plays an important part in healing. If you believe the MD when he tells you there is no hope then there is no hope. I say to everyone believe there is a cure and it will happen if you do the correct things. The power of the mind is real and very important for healing. We get the correct information and there is a very good chance we can heal anything.

Where are you seeing this information? I saw a report dated March 4 indicating significant improvement in fatigue, and that a bigger study was being planned.
