MS weakness

Post by killroyd »

I have searched all over webb but I do not really understand what ms-weakness is. Is ms-weakness like you muscle just dies out, with that i mean like you cant even lift 1 kg becuase of the weakness. Or is ms-weakness like it feels heavier, for example before somone could lift 40 kg 4x10 times now he can only lift in that arm 40 kg 2x10 times (is this perceived weakness or ms-weakness?)

The thing is i have had some symtptoms and i have a apointment in 1 month to a speciallist. I have been to a normal doctore but he thought it was only anxienty.

My symtopms:
Body wide muscle twtiching (3 month now).
My left triceps seems weaker, I do train alot and when my twtiching started i started to feel weaker in my left triceps. When I do benchpress for example what used to be easy suddenly have gotten harder in my left triceps.
Sleep paralysis

I do eat magnesium supplyments and multivamin.

hi i had weakness leading up to my msdx but no longer. i had a lot of nutrient deficiencies. the one that was top of mind at the time was b12, but even though i started megadosing b12 furiously it didn't help at all until i started working on a variety of interconnected nutritional issues.
the weakness was just physical inability to do things that required strength. for instance, i could not squeeze shampoo or conditioner out of the bottle. i had to squeeze with both hands and then try to quickly shift a hand down to catch whatever came out. it was ridiculous.
also, muscle weakness in the legs. this would cause my knees to give way in particular situations like going down a step out the back door for example. kind of felt like just losing balance.
the weakness is a thing of the past for me - i take far better care of myself these days.
magnesium is absorbed variably by form. if you're using mag oxide that will have more of a laxative effect and will be absorbed less effectively into your system. if it's a highly soluble form like glycinate, that will be more effectively absorbed by your system. magnesium is required for good muscle function among other things, and deficit can be related to any kind of muscle spasticity issue such as tics, cramps, twitching, heart palpitations, hiccups, and so on.
magnesium and calcium need to be properly balanced for good muscle function. calcium is needed for muscle contraction, while magnesium allows for relaxation. excessive daily intakes of highly absorbable magnesium can cause a vague sense of weakness. so depending what form of magnesium you are taking, how much you get from diet, and how much calcium you get, you could end up with high magnesium with low calcium and an associated feeling of weakness. once when i took too much magnesium, i started to have a vague sense of struggling a bit more to get up the stairs.
good to hear you are on a multivitamin - is it one for active adults? i would expect training to have an effect on your electrolyte levels and essential nutrient balance... might still be an idea to evaluate your daily total intakes of essential nutrients like zinc, iron, calcium and magnesium to see if you're meeting daily amounts for each one! you'll want to keep your intake levels a bit above the general recommendations, to compensate for the physical activity factor :)
