FlopStops

Post by 1eye »

I am not selling anything. I am genuinely looking for information. Has anyone ever tried FlopStops footwear, for foot drop. They have testimonials by pwMS on their web site but I am skeptical. It looks like a band around the back of the heel with bungies connected to the top of the shoe, at the instep. this would pull the shoe up, and I guess your weight would pull it back down.

I have thought of trying to devise some sort of gliding mechanism to prevent my toe from stubbing, maybe by putting a roller right at the front of the shoe which only engages when the front part of the step happens. I was unable to find such a device or shoe.

1eye, I just bumped a couple of my old threads of foot drop hints in a couple different forums (the Daily Life forum and the Exercise forum). One has links to the "foot flexr" and my experience with it, which may be similar to your FlopStop. Or not. Lots of MS patients have used these. :

And in another I gave a list of foot drop exercises. I have other exercises I use also that were suggested for my specific issues by PT people, but this is a pretty good list:

Good luck with it!
Dx'd with MS & HNPP (hereditary peripheral neuropathy) 7/03 but must have had MS for 30 yrs before that. I've never taken meds for MS except 1 yr experiment on LDN. (I found diet, exercise, sleep, humor, music help me the most.)
