So this drug halts the inflammatory response...to infection and everything?? Seems like a trip to PML land to me. Maybe another immune response would be able to compensate for the absence of inflammation? One can hope. (I wonder why they haven't been looking for a complementary med/treatement to counteract the PML/infection risks for existing drugs...maybe we need a cocktail.)

You have to have a pretty powerful monoclonal antibody to suppress part of the immune system altogether and allow PML to go from dormant JCV to active. This is a substance produced by our own genes in certain situations (starvation, say), and anything can be poisonous in too high a dose. That's what trials are for.
