This is the place to ask questions if you have symptoms that suggest MS, but aren't yet diagnosed.

There's nothing more I can do than write this stuff

Post by romanuncle »

This is going to be long, real long..
Ok so this all started on 12th march 2015, I was at a party getting drunk as fuck, drank about 6 glasses of rum a couple beer came home, popped a brufen(for my headache, I always get them after binging) and crashed. Woke up at the middle of the night, I wanted to pee but just couldn't make myself pee, I stood in front of the toilet pot for a good 15 minutes and I couldn't pee- weird considering the fact you pee rivers after drinking so much alcohol and here I was. Didn't think much of it and went to sleep. Next morning the problem persisted but I could make myself pee a little and this went on for that entire day. Started googling my symptoms and I was certain I had a kidney failure, went to the doc and he gave me some tabs(diuretics) and after about 4-5 hours started peeing normally. But a weird thing happened that day, I was sitting on the couch and my arm went to sleep for no apparent reason, I moved it a little and it came back to life so I didn't think much of it. Few days went by, I had a urine test and ultrasound and everything was clear. No eplanation for my bladder problem. Meanwhile, I could feel hot and cold feeling running down my legs. Started waking up every fucking hour of the night to pee, had a bad leg pain every night. Then started feeling numbness and tingling in my legs and arms followed by pin prick like feeling all over my body. Some nights I would wake up and find my arms and legs still asleep, like numb af. Had a weird cold feeling in my ear followed by static. A few days passed and I started developing pain in my neck, middle of the spine and lower back coupled with severe leg pain, occasional electric shocks like nerve pain and burning feet(occasional). Went to the doc and he put me on Vitamin B12 tabs. Got myself checked for diabetes - all normal. For two days I was back to normal, no pain, no fatigue full of energy, I thougt I was getting better but then my vision problems started. Started getting constant eye twitches, droopy eyelids, seeing halos, starbursts, glare, after images, eye pain all of which I have till date. A day went by and all my back, leg pain came back. As I sit here typing this, I feel as if I have weights attatched to my limbs, very difficult to climb stairs, nerve pain etc. I have a bad sinus which came out of nowhere(in summer) 2 days ago. I never had any previous symptom, never had any back pain or leg pain(non injury related) in my life. Only thing I did have was a weird ass enlarged lymph node under my jaw which has been there for a year but has been hidden under my beard.
I'm still dependant on my parents for money who think that I'm going crazy(who wouldn't because I have had so many symptoms in so little time + were not that rich and don't have any medical insurance) so they don't want to take me to a neuro, MRI is out of the question. My only hope of getting diagnosed is by december when I'm starting work which thankfully has a good medical insurance cover. So if you think you have problems, spare a thought about me - who isn't even sure it's MS but is still posting here. :(

Oh and I have balance issues, as if I'm always drunk.

How old are you? You seem on the younger side...lol

Any family history of MS? Do you smoke cigs?

Did you get your b12 checked? What were your numbers?

it can be anything or nothing.

No I havent got them checked out yet but I'm starting to think this is a case of Alcohol poisoning or some other kind of poisoning from which I have survived and now have to face the neurological consequences. My eyes are deteroirating rapidly, can see after images with my eyes open(wtf).

Neurological diseases and disorders of all kinds have these same symptoms. Def get a nuero and MRI when you can.

P.S. A lot of people first experience their symptoms after a night of partying. Check out this group - you'll see a lot of people who first experienced MS symptoms after smoking pot, or getting drunk. I don't know why that is. Maybe doctors have a clue.

You may be right about experiencing symptoms after a night of partying but certainly not all the symptoms associated with MS in 20 days. I'm thinking more on the lines of poisoning or Gullian Barre syndrome(I have a bad cough problem going on). Anyways, I'm bugging my parents to take me to a Neuro. Hopefully they'll listen this time.

Educate your parents about M.S. Hopefully they learn that the disease itself is some fucked up shit. Also the ER will not turn anyone away. A Social Worker there can work with your parents to get insurance.
I wish you well. Hang in there.

Where there's will, there's a way!
