Coincidentally, on the same web site, another story about biotin.MSUK wrote:A drug developed from the toxin of a sea anemone to treat conditions such as multiple sclerosis have shown promise in a phase 1 clinical trial, it has been reported..... Read More - http://www.ms-uk.org/emergingtherapies
There's that word again, dripping with significant meaning:

^^^^ lol
right though? You would think at this point with all these "breakthroughs" we would have gotten somewhere.

I get a little edgy when they talk about using venom from toxic critters. It might solve all my problems... permanently!
I guess if I was at the point of saying; "either cure me or kill me" I'd go for it. But I'm not at that point yet.

Love that quote NHE! Ha...breakthrough. Right, 1eye??
yup. We've seen these snake/spider/creepy crawly venom stories before.

SPIDERS! http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-d ... 26214.html
SEA ANENOMES ! (from 2012) http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-d ... 20451.html
One thing all of these venoms have in common....they are potent vasodilators. In fact. ACE inhibitor medicines, which rapidly decrease blood pressure, were created out of Brazilian viper venom by the Nobel winning scientist, Sir John Vane.
The heart-brain connection is real, and blood flow matters.

http://www.fasebj.org/content/18/3/421.fullThe toxic effects of venom from a Brazilian viper (Bothrops jararaca) were found to be due to a sudden, massive drop in blood pressure. This piqued the interest of Nobel prize winning scientist, Sir John Vane, under whose auspices it was revealed that the snake venom was a potent inhibitor of ACE. Vane took this discovery to the pharmaceutical company Squibb, where two scientists, David Cushman and Miguel Ondetti, began working on creating a synthetic ACE inhibitor for use in treating hypertension.
