i don't think its available in the US, but CBD oil (one of the primary ingredients in sativex) is legal and readily available on the internet.

It is available in Canada, and my doctor thinks it can do no harm. I can't take it during the day because it makes falls more likely. It does help me get to sleep, and I think I have found the dosage (rather a lot) at which I am still affected the next day. I am unlikely to do this by accident. So in addition to what my doctor thinks (he thinks he knows everything worth knowing) I also think it can do no harm if I am careful.

The other thing to note is that, like Viagra, it lowers your blood pressure. Combined with nitroglycerine (under-the-tongue spray used for angina), it can be deadly. I took the risky combination of nitro, Sativex, and lorazepam, one fine evening. After the ambulance ride, I was at the hospital overnight. My blood pressure went through the floor. One thing they don't tell you about nitro: spray it once, away from you, before you use it. Only once it is primed will you get an accurate, metered dose. But don't get it in anyone's eyes, unless you are using it as mace or pepper-spray. For that, I imagine it works on bears, too, but don't quote me.
