This is the place to ask questions if you have symptoms that suggest MS, but aren't yet diagnosed.

Heat induced paresthetic episodes

Post by Darrenmidd »

G'day all,

I'm a 48yo male in good health and fitness.
Around June this year I started having random neurological pain in my hands and feet, that would often spread to my torso. After a few months the symptoms became more frequent and increasingly painful, restricting what I could and could not do. A few months ago I went to see a neurologist, and he ordered an MRI which showed up a lesion on the brain. This led to a plethora of other tests to ascertain the nature of the lesion. Eventually I was told that the lesion is probably just the result of a mini stroke. However, he are still unsure about the cause of the neuropathy, but for now we will continue to rely on medication to ameliorate the symptoms.

I'm on endep and Lyrica, but still I have episodes most days, and some days 20 times or more (though it can go quiet for a week or so (if I do not do exercise, or avoid hot weather). The only things that made me think MS was that as soon as it is warm, or I go into direct sunshine, hit the gym or have a hot shower or get in a hot car it always triggers the first of what can be multiple episodes (other times it just starts for no apparent reason). As noted, the neuro doesn't believe it is MS, but I'm asking here anyway.

I should add I have had every blood test imaginable, EEG, echo dopplers etc. All appear to be good.

Thanks
Darren
