Why Is Dark Chocolate Good for You? Thank Your Microbes

Post by ElliotB »

I just started reading Dr. David Perlmutter's book, Brain Maker - an excellent book which I highly recommend. He outlines and stresses the importance of a healthy gut - not exactly a new topic to anyone here.

In any case, I began 'feeding' my gut a healthy diet a while ago, and have decided to add a couple of his recommended foods, which includes kefir (a yogurt like food made from milk, homemade of course and of course I will use milk from grass fed cows) and dark chocolate (cocoa, no sugar added). I found this interesting article online about dark chocolate that may be of interest to you:

If you do decide to consume dark chocolate, be sure to avoid chocolates where sugar is added, so you would want to stick with cocoa. I plan on enjoying chocolate kefir over the near future on a trial basis and will keep my fingers crosses that it 'helps'.
