Extremely worried teenager :(

This is the place to ask questions if you have symptoms that suggest MS, but aren't yet diagnosed.

Extremely worried teenager :(

Post by nesquikii »

Hello, this is my first post anywhere about my worries, i had nowhere else to go at the moment or no1 else to talk to.
Im a 17-year old boy, im healthy ( with occasional migraines ) i go to the gym and im an overall happy and positive person. Or atleast i was 'till last tuesday, when i was about to go to sleep, laying in my bed, i noticed this weird vibration in my left heel...of course as a stupid teenager with nothing else to worry about as we have a break from school here in Finland, i googled it.
One of the first few things that popped up was about MS, so i did quite a bit of research on MS that night, and i was super, i mean SUPER worried that night, and only managed to get about 3 hours of sleep. Next morning we had to leave at 7am to get on our boat to Sweden, we had booked a little day-shopping trip there, i was really tired the whole day and kept thinking about my heel and MS and everything like that. Then on thursday my pinky started to feel weird, im still not sure if it's just me imagining that and developing myself symptoms that don't really exist, but my pinky and the part of my hand under it feels a little "numb" i'd say, and a little tingly now as im writing this, just a tiny bit tingly.
My heel is still having the vibration sensation, it is almost constant now, when it started it was like 2-3 seconds of vibration, then a pause of 3-5 seconds, then vibrations again, and it would go on like this all the time. Now it is tingly all the time which it wasn't back when it started and the vibrations come with max. 1-2sec pause. MAX.
Now during this weekend i've noticed that im very tired, and dont feel like eating, my tiredness is a little bit wavy i'd say, it comes and goes.
And today i've felt dizzy and as im writing this i feel like going to bed and just try to sleep cause im so dizzy it's quite bad, and hasn't been this bad untill now as i just got back from the metro station where i walked my gf to.

Im almost sure i have MS, it might be diabetes also, but as im not hungry i dont think its diabetes.
( still hope it's diabetes instead of MS )

I've also been pretty emotional and depressed, and i've been trying to hide my tiredness and worries from my girlfriend, she is very emotional and i love her more than anything and im so scared of losing her and if i do have MS, and as it would get worse that we could not have the "normal" life anymore that we have dreamed of..

Yes this might sound very childish and stupid and whatnot, but i had nowhere else to go...and i have a feeling inside of me that something's definitely not right..

I'd like to know how your MS started?
Did start slow with little weird sensations which got worse over time? Is that typical for MS?

Every reply is appreciated! Thank you.

edit: Also fatigue a few times a day, makes me just want to lay in bed.

Hi and welcome to TIMS. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Perhaps it is a good time to see a doctor so you can have a professional assist you in finding out what may be wrong with you.

Dizzyness still there, woke up with it and it has been going from really bad to somewhat "normal" but it is there all the time. Mom thinks this all is caused by muscle stiffness or something related to muscles, im seeing a doctor tomorrow, but the doctor is a "sport-doc" or something like that. First my mom suggested a massager, but i kept telling her that i want to see a doc.
Even more scared now that im dizzy...guess i'll find out what this is in a week or so, atleast i hope so :( I really hope it is not MS though.

You may want to consider seeing a neurologist.

MS is a diagnosis of exclusion. There are multiple conditions which can cause MS like symptoms. It is the job of your doctors to test for those other possibilities. One of the conditions which can cause MS like symptoms, but is easily overlooked by many doctors, is vitamin B12 deficiency. A full test for B12 deficiency includes serum B12, red blood cell (RBC) folate, serum homocysteine (Hcy) and serum or urinary methylmalonic acid (MMA). In addition, the standard laboratory range for B12 is much too low. In the US, and some other countries as well, it runs from about 200-800 pg/mL. However, for any patient experiencing neurological symptoms, you'll really want to be over 500 pg/mL. Please see the book "Could It Be B12? An Epidemic of Misdiagnosis" by Sally Pacholok and Jeffery Stuart. There is also a video documentary on youtube that's worth watching.

Hello again, so i saw the doctor and was given some meds for muscle stiffness, those didn't help at all. Time went by, and my heel started to slowly calm down, and my hand also. Dizziness was and is still there. I went to a massager, didn't help at all, i also saw a chriropractic or whatever it's called, just a guy with morr advanced body massagin stuff imo. That didn't help either.
As my foot started to "calm down" it also showed new kind of symptoms, like symptoms that only occur once in a while and then dissappear, like little twitches or similar and this time all around my foot. But it's very calm 97% of the time. My dizziness hasn't changed a bit with time, which really worries me, and i also have a weird thing going on in my fingertips, i once in a while get tingly on my thumb's tip and my now recently on my pointer finger's tip also, but my pointer finger tingling happens when i stretch my arm wide. Thumb's tip just randomly gets tingly..
Still really worried, but got a little peace of mind, and learned to live with the dizziness..i dont think i have a choice.

Im just really curious that are these kind of symptoms and their behavior usual for MS??

Im seeing a neurologist, but not untill january....when i heard that im seeing the neurologist in january it really broke me cause now i just have to wait and wait and stress and wait and worry and wait...

Please help.

Also, i dont know if it has anything to do with MS, but i've had a REALLY stuffy and dry nose for like a month soon, quite a fee times when i've tried to sneezd my nose open in the morning, there's been dry/old blood in it. No blood in my throat tho, so i guess it has had to be my nose. (?) ms related?)

Did they check your B12, homocysteine and red blood cell folate levels?

Nothing has gotten better or worse. Few new symptoms tho, my thumb muscle has been twitching lately and a weird kind of twitching in the sides of my lower ribs sometimes as im about to go to sleep. Dizziness hasn't changed a bit.

Thanks.

Are you following any kind of diet? Are you exercising regularly. What type of vitamins and supplements are you taking?

I go to the gym semi-regulargy, since i got these symptoms i haven't been going too often, and yes i kind of do, cause i drink these shakes 3 times a day that include 5 eggs in total, some porridge, milk, 2 bananas, honey, berries. But other than that i just eat whatever my mom cooks. And im taking, omega 3, multivitamin and D-vitamin.

Hi,

If you are a 17 year old and a trip to Sweden is normal then where else have you been?
My daughter was slowly getting sicker until a fecal test found two little bugs living in her lower intestine that had probably been there for 6 years since she did a school trip through the jungles of Borneo. The bug probably infects 1 billion people worldwide and is a contributing factor to irritable bowel disease. Easily fixed with the right treatment but we didn't think to look.
Get tested for mycoplasma, rickettsia and pathogens that can live in the lower intestine. You may just have symptoms of a form of travellers bug. A blood test would not find my daughters, it needed a fecal test.

"i just eat whatever my mom cooks."

Perhaps you should consider some other options, one of which would be to go gluten free (always a good idea) and minimize your intake of saturated fats, at least until you find out exactly what is going on.

And consider daily exercise of some kind (walking, swimming, biking).
