So about 6 months ago I had a bad break out of hives. http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-d ... 26400.html
I was tested for everything under the sun and was not allergic to anything.
My doctors and I came to the conclusion it was copaxone. The last time I injected copaxone I became instantly sick to my stomach and covered in hives.
I had no more issues once I stopped copaxone.... Now 5 months later since my last shot I am having the same issue again. I am getting giant hives every day again. I have not changed a single thing in my life.
Is there a possible link between this and MS? Or another disease? It would make sense with how stupid my immune system is for to be doing this to my body as well.
I just don't know what to do at this point.... lol
thanks,
Chris
Any connection between hives and MS or other diseases?

Don't know if you have seen these older threads:

Chris, how have you been doing (aside from this) since you stopped taking Copaxone?

Hi,
I would guess the Copoxone got an unfair wrap after the reoccurrence. Still there's something going on.
When you said you were tested for everything what does that cover? Did you cover bacteria? Try Googling "Hives and Bacteria" and check if you have covered off everything.
Where are your hives predominately on your body? Does their pattern change?
Regards,

The hives can be anywhere and everywhere. Mostly my mid section up front. My legs also get them a lot too. But I have had them at times on my arms, back, etc. One thing I have noticed too is my entire body can get itchy. My scalp gets bad and as weird as this sounds my pimples get very itchy and super red and inflamed as well. I have struggled with acne since being a teen. I don't think bacteria was involved with testing. It was all food related, molds, and allergens.
They actually can go from hives to just a big patch of itchy inflamed skin. The more I scratch the bigger and worse the area seems to get.
The pattern completely changes. The areas seem to be pretty random.
I am going to look into this bacteria connection. There is something more going on here.
Thanks

Re: Any connection between hives and MS or other diseases?
Elliot thanks for asking. I am doing fantastic at the moment. I did have a little bout of optic neuritis for a couple months though (for the 4th time in my life). I did not do any steroids and its getting pretty close to normal. I took a very high stressful job and I think it was related. I don't work there now.
It wasn't nearly as bad as relapses I have had in the past. I am just about back to 100 percent overall. All the other symptoms stayed in check.
Ironically it has given me the confidence to stay med free for the time being..... hopefully that's not a mistake lol. I have had a relapse every year around October for the past three years, even while on copaxone. So I can at least kinda measure everything based on that.
