Anyone on here wih multiple medical problems?

Post by Sarahlynn87 »

Hi my name is Sarah. I am 28 y/o and I have had MS for 8 years and Diabetes type 1 for 14 years. I work fulltime and I go to the gym regularly. i have been on tysabri for 6 years and I feel great. The main symptoms I struggle with are fatigue and loss of balance at times. Is anyone else going through a similar situation?

Hi Sarahlynn and welcome. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well even with multiple medical maladies! Yes, many (or most) of us, including me, have a complex assortment of issues. Although I don't have Diabetes, I've accumulated many other problems, partly due to age, but I seem to get diagnosed with something new each time I go to a doctor these days.

I've posted on here often that if I woke up one morning and MS had magically disappeared from the earth during the night, it would take me days to even notice it was gone! Plus, the genetic damage to my peripheral nerves (HNPP) gives me similar symptoms to MS.

My best advice to you is to continue to keep yourself active through work and exercise, as well as healthy eating. No matter what the course of MS or any other condition, keeping yourself at optimum general health will make a major difference.

Good luck!
Dx'd with MS & HNPP (hereditary peripheral neuropathy) 7/03 but must have had MS for 30 yrs before that. I've never taken meds for MS except 1 yr experiment on LDN. (I found diet, exercise, sleep, humor, music help me the most.)

Hello,
Thank you so much for that informative response! I do agree eating healthy and getting exercise is very crucial when feeling good comes to play. I try not to get discouraged but at times it is overwhelming. I have a great support system and at this time I am very mobile. I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks again :)

Hi Sarah,

There is a stack of ideas and information in here. Sometimes we can all think we have a monopoly on the answers but none of us do. Some posts can get very technical and others are just a rainbow of thoughts, feelings and frustrations. Asking questions generally prompts a response and there are no wrong questions. My tedious view on things is here http://www.thisisms.com/forum/regimens- ... 24019.html but I don't expect you to read the whole thing. If you do, you will notice that new things need addressing as we go along but they don't all have to be bad news.
Do eat well, do exercise but be your own council as you have your own unique experiences.

Regards,
