Permanent decreasing of hemoglobin

Post by Firidion »

For several years, I have a problem with a permanent reduction of hemoglobin. Several times happened to me that I was significantly anemic, hemoglobin about 100 g/l or less (standard for men 135 g/l). Then I always took pills with iron and I got back to normal. But what is strange is that every time after a while when I stop taking the iron pills, hemoglobin decreases automatically. So I have to take iron constantly.
The problem started a few months after I start taking TYSABRI. But personally I do not think it is related. I have found no association between anemia and TYSABRI.
In one study there was said that PwMS have increased risk of anemia, see: http://www.karger.com/Article/Abstract/381212
I do not know whether this is also my case.

Do you have a similar experience? My iron absorption is probably all right because pills always helped me. I also do not have a celiac disease, I do not bleed.
