Fatigue? CoQ10 and MitoQ online presentation and discussion

Post by Scott1 »

Hi,

If you have fatigue, whatever your condition, you should follow these videos over the next few days.

Brett Drummond from MStranslate has organised a series of presentations with the people in New Zealand who produce MitoQ. This is a coQ10 product where the charge has been altered to make it enter to the mitochondria more readily.

Todays clip is an interview with the CEO setting out what will be shown over the next few days.

Whether it's this product or another I am sure that CoQ10 is integral to dealing with fatigue. My understanding is later in the week Brett will hold an online forum with the people who will appear as a Q and A session. If you are in the northern hemisphere you could email Brett (brett@mstranslate.com.au) or contact him on their face book page and he will ask the question on your behalf.

What Brett is trying to do is build a bridge between the researchers and people with MS. He can get to the reseachers as he has the right background but they need to know they reached an audience so do have a look as it will build, by a hit, evidence that they were not just whistling in the wind.

Brett's not making money out of this. He has done it for several years now and no one else is trying this approach. Do support his effort because it comes back as a better information source for us.

His website is http://www.mstranslate.com.au

Thanks for sharing this Scott1! I am really excited about sharing the content this week surrounding MitoQ for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I think while we are still looking for answers as to the causes of MS, it is important that we examine as many different avenues as possible. I think that this one deserves more attention and awareness than it currently gets. Secondly, I think that there is real potential for this research to have benefits for people living with MS.

Today, we have shared a video interview that I recorded with Professor Mike Murphy from the Mitochondrial Biology Unit at the University of Cambridge. In this video, he discusses how MitoQ was developed, but perhaps more importantly, the mechanisms by which it might be helping people with MS. As he suggests in the interview, at the moment, all of the evidence is from animal models and anecdotal evidence of people who have begun using it. To know for sure, they will need to progress this into randomised, blinded clinical trials. We are hopeful that this Feature Week will be a step in the right direction for them to be able to do this.

The best way for this research to progress though is to have the community show their support for it. The best way to do that is to engage with the content as we post it. The easiest way to view all of our content is on our Facebook page:

www.facebook.com/MStranslate

Show the research teams how much you appreciate, not only the work that they do, but also the fact that they are taking the time to communicate with the MS community by 'Liking', 'Sharing' and 'Commenting' on the posts. As Scott1 says, this is our best way for being able to convince more researchers to do this, so that we can continue to provide you with the content and information that you deserve!

The direct YouTube link for today's video is:

Professor Murphy will be involved in the Q&A that we will be holding on Thursday evening (Melbourne time). You can contact me (brett@mstranslate.com.au) if you would like to participate or you can leave questions below or on our Facebook page and I will make sure that I ask on your behalf.

Thank you again!
Brett Drummond

apologies if the answer to my question is in the videos (Im writing this from work) but how long would it take for the benefits to start, I ask as its understood that Q10 takes a while to be effective.

Hi,

I don't take MitoQ but I am very interested in the question of efficacy. I take a brand that is Q10 with d-tocopherol(VitE). With that brand I found I needed to take doses that I escalated every 2nd day till I found a point where I reacted. The effect was I started waking up in the middle of the night, ready to go. Over time I fiddled around and settled on 750mg a night and have been on that for around 18 months. I was taking a lower dose before I became ill in 2014. Interestingly, despite a very bad attack I never had fatigue. I do know what that's like as I had it years ago. I noticed an impact after a week or so but the effect is cumulative so the longer the better.

I doubt just increasing the Q10 is enough on its own. MitoQ might eventually prove otherwise. Q10 is a big molecule and it has to get through the mitochondrial membrane which isn't easy, hence the charge on their product is interesting. There are other things I do but I love my Q10 because it makes a difference.

Ultimately, its the causes of inflammation that matter hence I always talk about clearing underlying infections.
If you ask Brett to ask them I'm sure he will . He's a good bloke.

Hi Luvsadonut,

Apologies for the slow reply. It's an interesting question - you may get some answers from one of the personal experience videos that we showed this week:

We also featured the second part of an interview with Professor Murphy, where he talks about his thoughts related to mitochondrial dysfunction and energy. You can view that here:

I will definitely ask your question in our Q&A tonight and post the link to that video once it's uploaded.

Hope this helps!

Hi Brett,
I'm curious how MitoQ compares to other mitochondrial treatments such as nicotinamide riboside (NR) which is a sirtuin agonist.

http://www.thisisms.com/forum/natural-a ... 27170.html

NR has been reported in published research to increase both mitochondrial number and mitochondrial cristae content. There is also AICAR (an AMPK agonist), but that isn't available as a supplement even though it's been frequently used in research.

Thanks, NHE

Hi NHE,

Thanks for the questions. Firstly, I'll let you know that we had an extensive Q&A last night with all of the participants from the feature week. This was recorded and will be uploaded and published tomorrow. I'll post the link here once that happens as I believe some of what was discussed is relevant to your question.

To ensure you get the best answer possible, I'll also forward your question on to the team at MitoQ. I'm sure they would be more than happy to provide you with a detailed response. As I know that they have a lot on today, I will do that early next week and hopefully have a reply to you within the near future.

Thanks,
Brett Drummond

Life Extension sells a supplement that they promote as "AMPK Activator." I know very little about it though.

Here is the Q&A link, hopefully it helps answer some of the questions that people have had. It really was a pleasure to be able to interact with Greg and Mike across the Feature Week.

In one of the videos, the MitoQ CEO seems to be saying that there is anecdotal evidence that MitoQ can cause leg swelling. Or I may have misunderstood and it could be the opposite which seems more logical. Anyone have any knowledge of this?

Hi,

I agree, the opposite is more logical. MitoQ is an antioxidant. The researcher video that features the inventor is the one I'd rely on.

As it is only an antoxidant there is probably a good case to take both Q10 and MitoQ but working out the mix is beyond me. Maybe Brett could contact them for you.
