Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
The extra drops seem to be ok. No reactions what so ever. Not that I expected any. I have been on the vitamin D3 for three days now. If I continue this way by the 15th November Dr. Cawley will put me up to 60,000iu which is the right dose for my body weight. Then, after a few more weeks, I am to get another blood test to make sure everything is going ok.
I am really pleased with the way things are going and look forward to the future. I know this is a long process and doesn't happen overnight, but I think I am on the right track.

Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Hi again,
I thought you might like to know what extra vitamins, etc. that I take. It might help you.
50,000iu vitamin D3 per day taken all at once. (Do not do this without your Protocol Doctor's advice.)
Vitamin K2 - two taken with the D3
Magnesium Citrate 200mg - 3 per day
Neural Magtein 70mg 1 after each meal - 3 daily
1 x Healthy Origins Natural Ubiquinol - active antioxidant form of CoQ10.
3 times a day DHA-500 which is 500 DHA/250 EPA
3 times a day Omega 3-6-9 1000mg
Gamma E Mixed Tocopherols once a day with meal
Se-Methyl L-Selenocysteine 200mcg (Advanced form of Selenium)
Riboflavin 5'-Phosphate (I was told by Dr. Cawley I probably didn't need this as I had had such a good reaction to the Vit. D) I am taking one a day anyway as I had already bought them.
I also have ordered another vitamin - Ion Magnesium 200mg per day.
I also take Oxygen Elements Max which I have taken for 15yrs. and it took my fatigue away.
I have an electronic FES machine which helps the blood supply and makes my bad leg warm in the winter so I know this works. This I get from my hospital appointments at re-hab.
I also take two tablespoons of natural yeast which gives me my B vitamins. I usually put it in a fruit smoothy.
I thought it was just a matter of taking vit. D3 but it is more than that. It all depends on your blood tests and what your body needs. Also you must drink at least 2.5 lts. of liquid while on this high dose of vitamin D. I am Gluten free, dairy free, and I do not eat meat. I have loads of fish and the Tuna steaks are lovely. I have recently started to eat eggs again. I tried them after a long time and had no reaction. I eat lots of salads and vegetables.
I really hope this helps in your journey as I didn't realise how expensive all the vitamins are and not everyone can afford them.
Kittie.

Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Hi Kittie,
Thanks for the detailed response.
Yes, the complete protocol is much more than vitamin D3.
For patients that cannot afford all the supplements, Dr. Coimbra prescribes only Vitamin D3, Magnesium and Vitamin B2. In this case, it becomes much more affordable.

To make it cheaper we usually use a Pharmacy Compounding. But, only if the pharmacy has a good reputation.Kittie wrote:I didn't realise how expensive all the vitamins are and not everyone can afford them.

Hi,
You are a mine of information and much needed today. I wish I had found this website earlier.
Also what is Pharmacy Coumpounding? Here in the UK I don't think we have that.

A Compounding Pharmacy is a pharmacy that produces customized medications and supplements (customize the dose). And it also enables doctors to combine several medications/supplements into one capsule and it is very common here in Brazil.
Doctors from Coimbra Protocol, Functional and Naturopathic Medicine uses a lot compounding pharmacies.
Unfortunately I do not know how it works in UK.
Here you can read a FAQ about it: http://www.pharmacist.com/frequently-as ... ompounding
I will give you one simple example:
If my brother would buy vitamin D3 from a supplement store he would pay almost $70.00 + Tax + Shipping for it (he takes huge doses). But in a pharmacy compounding it costs only $33.00
The drawback related with it is a possible error in the preparation of the supplement/medication. So, the pharmacy need to be very reliable.
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Most supplements are available in Pharmaceutical Grade bulk powders which cost wise are much, much less expensive than their typical capsule or tablet counterparts, and also have the benefit of not having any fillers and of course no cellulose (capsules). Many are tasteless. The majority of the supplements I take are Pharmaceutical Grade and I consume them on a daily basis in a smoothie.
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
That sounds brilliant! I am going to search on line to see if there are any in the UK.
Dr. Cawley didn't mention anything and he is a nutritionalist, but maybe he is waiting to see if everything agrees with me. He is very specific on which ones to take as their are many alternatives.
I must admit that all these capsules are a devil to remember when and how to take!

Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Does anyone know if just taking the D3, Magnesium and B2 have the same effect but maybe takes longer?

It's a bit difficult to answer it properly.
Vitamin D3, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 make up 95% of the treatment... And a lot of people that take only these 3 substances have a good or excellent result.
However, as the patient is not taking high doses of DHA 500 the brain and spine lesions ''may'' take more time to heal.
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Thank you for the information, I can see where you are coming from.
On Wednesday, 8th November, 2017, my right leg dropped me from my knee down. I was coming down stairs. Luckily I was holding on to the bannister at the time and slipped four stairs down on my bottom. I felt every one!
Also I took the Ionic Magnesium for the first time on Thursday, late afternoon and I had intermittent aches from my lymph glands, on my right side, under my arm. This happened in the evening. I have never experienced anything like this before. I also had a few yesterday so I wasn't sure whether to take it again and left it. It is in liquid form. I will try again today and see what happens. It has the most awful taste and I had to take it with some juice and water. It could be a good sign or bad sign, I am not sure at the moment. I must email Dr. Cawley.

When Magnesium Makes Me Worse
https://drcarolyndean.com/2012/10/when- ... -me-worse/When people take a drug or a supplement they take it with the expectation that it will make them feel better. We know that’s not always the case with drugs but what about supplements?
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Thank you for the information. I saw this before but it didn't relate to me so never took much notice. It is always good to be able to have these links. I have read them and think I took too much straight away and at the wrong time maybe?
Dr. Cawley hasn't come back to me, but it has been the weekend and he might have been away so yesterday, Sunday, I decided to take half the amount of Ionic Magnesium before my dinner. I had no reaction at all.
What I have noticed is that my stools are very soft and I went three times yesterday. All the liquids and magnesium are working well?
Yesterday, Sunday, was cold but sunny and my husband and I went for a walk before lunch. I felt really well and strong.

Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
All the liquids and magnesium are working well?

I've tried many kinds of oral magnesium - magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium citrate, dimagnesium malate, magnesium taurate, magnesium oxide, and two kinds of ionic magnesium liquid. I have noticed some results from these.
I've also tried a few kinds of transdermal magnesium - magnesium sulfate through I.V., magnesium sulfate from Epsom salts foot soaks, magnesium chloride from magnesium oil, and magnesium chloride from magnesium chloride foot soaks.
For me, the transdermal magnesium treatments have been far more effective than any of the oral magnesium.
One thing I like about transdermal magnesium is that it doesn't enter the colon so it does not cause stool softening.
And regarding the terrible taste from ionic magnesium (1 kind, at least) It has kind of a weird chlorine-like smell that I can't quite put my finger on. It really is yucky !!
Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
Initially I tried to take the Ionic Magnesium with just a little water to get it down quick. Wrong!!! I then took it with more water and Robinson's Lemon Barley juice. Perfectly fine.
I like the idea of absorbing it through the skin but I have been told to take the three different magnesiums. Dr. Cawley is a Nutritionist and Accupuncturist so I will talk to him this Wednesday when we Skype. It is a minefield and it is a matter of finding what suits you best.
Actually Dr. Cawley bought some of my OXYGEN ELEMENTS MAX while we were talking on Skype. He has looked into it for quite a while but not found anything that he could recommend. He has MS too.

Re: Dr. Coimbra Protocol
I've seen some differences between the supplements. My brother uses only Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Glycinate.
Most of the patients use only Magnesium chloride.
