Re: Hormone Replacement
That *is* magical! Not to discount the suckiness of having an autoimmune skin condition, it’s pretty cool that you can actually see the effect of things you’re trying. I hope you’re onto something…

i suspect that in time, certain 'women's' hormone therapies may also prove beneficial for 'man-opausal' ms patients. tbd.

The Interactions of Sex, Hormones and Age in MS Prognosis
https://www.abstractsonline.com/pp8/#!/ ... ntation/45
Conclusion: Although some conflicting results exist, most studies point out that sex differences and hormones are operational in MS prognosis through an age continuum. Ultimately, in addition to aging, the role of sex and hormones is critical in individualizing patient management. To facilitate such an individualized treatment approach, sex and hormone status as related to the aging process should be accounted for in interpreting natural history studies and clinical trial results in MS. The role of adjunctive hormonal therapies in MS is yet to be established in larger trials.
on it. except as usual, still in n=1 mode for the time being

update Re: Hormone Replacement
as of this past wed, the pump mechanism on the estriol cream wasn't working - again.
by thursday it showed, and by friday my affected skin was raised, angry, broken, and painful.
yesterday i tried to cut the pump open for its contents. in the process, the housing came apart at the base. turned out i had to push the interior floor up from the bottom, so that the pump had any chance of contacting lotion.
as of last evening, topical estriol is once again doing its magic on this autoimmune skin condition that achieves remission in pregnancy.
still on hold re potential internal applications!

Re: Hormone Replacement
Doh! Those dang pumps. What’s wrong with good ol’ squeeze bottles anyway?
I’m thinking BARTS is stalking you. This morning’s blog blast is re: HRT.
Have you ever tried that yam cream? I wonder what it does for your skin condition. You could n=1 prove/disprove the claimed estrogen effect. Good Lord! I’m a twisted soul. You know if I could I’d be all “Oh hey! Have you heard of this great new lotion. Here…try some. It’s sooo yummy!” Then I’d study you like a nerdy kid obsessed with ants. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Glad your experiment is going so well and thanks for the updates.
Be well

Be careful. That nerdy kid just might notice that his magnifying glass has a peculiar effect on a sunny day.

and no, i haven't tried yam cream - it's not off the list of possibilities, but to date i haven't found a product i'd consider buying, based on the literature i've read so far.

Re: Hormone Replacement
looks like it's time to check back in on magnesium
Activities of Serum Magnesium and Thyroid Hormones in Pre-, Peri-, and Post-menopausal Women (2020)
https://www.cureus.com/articles/25026-a ... usal-women
Results: There was a statistically significant relationship between the serum Mg activities and the thyroid hormones between the study subjects and the control group. The activities of the serum Mg (1.72±0.33) in relation to the TSH (5.09±7.54) in the cases were found statistically significant (p <0.001) when compared to the serum Mg (1.8±0.20) in relation to the TSH in the control group (2.41±2.05). The activities of Mg were noted to fall in women through the peri (1.70±0.43), and postmenopausal age (1.60±0.34). There was a significant increase in the activities of TSH in women of premenopause (4.27±5.76), perimenopause (5.65±8.53), and postmenopausal age (7.19±11.07).
Conclusion: From the results of the present study, it can be concluded that the women reaching menopause could suffer from hypomagnesemia and inturn may develop thyroid and other hormonal disorders.

Re: Hormone Replacement
Great thread JL and all
Can I also add that I started taking testosterone and it has pepped up my energy levels. Also good for flagging/non-existent libido apparently!

Re: Hormone Replacement
Hi Jaded, an important comment! I haven't spent as much time reading about testosterone yet, but am not setting it aside at all.

Re: Hormone Replacement
so i'm *still waiting* for time with a particular local specialist. the good news is, at this point the over the counter E3 cream has really done the trick where it's been applied topically on my problem skin. i *really* want to apply E3 from within. just about done putting the patience in patients...
