Novartis also stated that FTY720, an oral therapy currently being investigated in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, or MS, is on track for regulatory submissions at the end of 2009.

Saw this in an article on Novartis today:
Hi Guys
My Neuro has patients enrolled in this trial in S. Africa.
I saw him today and asked how it was going.
He said it looked very promising, and that the regulatory submissions would be made in about 2 years time (so end 2009 sound right).
He then said we shouldn't expect it on the market until 2011 or 2012???

You guys all know that I am on this trial.
It is not a magic cure but I haven't had any attacks in at least 18mo. My EDSS has not changed and I still must exercise a bit everyday to keep my strength and my balance.
I only have 3 visits to go to complete this study. I may even be
secondary progressive now, which may skew the results but that is their problem.
I may have said this before but my neuro said I won't be left stranded once the study is done. I should be able to get the real thing if all is well with the product. So far, no red flags have come up.
Take care all, Carole

FTY 720/PPMS arm
My neuro via e-mail two weeks ago told me he expects to see a final protocol for a PPMS arm for the FTY 720 trial in June and it would take a few months for me to actually enroll. I asked him about the trial because I am considering herbal treatment and I did not want it to be an exclusion for the FTY720 trial. He said I would just have to stop any treatments 30 days prior to the first dose. I would certainly be willing to do that unless of course the herbal treatment actually works for me......Then, maybe I'll have a choice of treatment paths. Wow, what a dream.....
Primary Progressive, Onset 10 years ago at age 42, diagnosis 6 years ago, Vit D, Chinese Herbs, Exercise, yoga. So far tried antibiotics, fumaric acid and 4AP. Currently participant in the FTY720/PPMS Trial.<br />
FTY720 Phase III
Hi,
I was looking at the phase III studies for FTY720 - does anyone know why they are doing such a large study? It looks like they are taking around 3000 people over the various trials.
