I didn't want to jinx it but.......

Post by Jamie »

Seven weeks out from HiCy, Melissa has zero MS symptoms.

She also has zero hair but anyway!

The quickest recovery was bowel symptoms. This righted itself about a week after HiCy.

She's pooped daily since then, missed one day but so did I that day - I cooked the night before.

Last April (pre-diagnosis) she didn't go for three weeks. She had strong enemas, a scope up her arse, daily laxatives and didn't go. Eventually that got a little better and with the aid of strong laxatives and softeners she could go every couple of days.

In fact she can't remember a time when she's gone regularly, this was just the culmination of that.

Now, she's fine.

Mel's back at work three days a week.

We bought a Wii fit, and now her left side is pretty much the same as her right.

No real vision problems.

We went out together to go see Eddie Izzard (English transvestite comedian), it was our first night out together this year. Mel made me laugh twice. Sounds odd, but they were sharp, quick comments - things that she beat me to the punch on.

It's been a LONG time since she's been able to do that. The fog's lifting, it's obvious to me and hopefully to her too.

She's started on Copaxone, the injection site reactions are painful and she gets big 'bee stings' but it's all for the best possible cause. To try and stop MS coming back.

We're sure it's stopped. The big question is for how long?

We'll take the worst case from the HiCy trial, 4 years. That'll do for now.

Must dash, she's on her way home - after working a full day, going to a happy hour afterwards. That is amazing to me. No way in hell early this year.

It's was 102 in Houston yesterday, no reaction.
