Miscarriage

Post by Punchy »

Well that didn't last long. :(

I went for an ultrasound yesterday and it showed that the baby stopped developing at 5 weeks. I am supposed to be 7.5 weeks along.

I am nervous of a post-pregnancy relapse, but since my hormone levels never got a chance to get very high I am probably not at much risk. We're very sad but will keep try again as soon as we can.

Once I start miscarrying I will have to have a shot of Rh immune globulin because I am Rh negative (if my baby was positive I could build up antibodies to Rh-positive blood, meaning my body would kill any future Rh-positive pregnancies). Has anyone ever read anything about this and how it mixes with autoimmune diseases? I can't find much.

I don't really have a choice in taking it but I am a little leery.

Punchy I have pm'd you.

I had a similar experience a few times and I didn't have a serious relapse afterwards. I did get fatigue but I don't know if that was emotional exhaustion or MS.

Punchy...
So, so sorry for you. Thoughts are with you.
Since the Rhig shot is an immunosuppressant, maybe you'll get a break and some relief from your MS symptoms.
Stay strong,

Punchy,

I am so sorry. I have been there twice and no that nothing I can say to you will make it any better. Allow yourselves time to grieve - both of you, it's your partner's loss too even though he won't experience the physical stuff.

I hope that your body gets to rights quickly and that the MS is not affected by it.

Please feel free to pm me if you want to talk about it or have any questions about m/c - I know that I was very alone and no-one to ask my 'silly' questions to.

Punchy,

My heart goes out to you. I've been there and it's a tough road. The shot shouldn't cause problems so don't be worried about it. You already have too much to think about. Feel free to dump/vent and we'll be here for you.
