My MS Bag of Tricks
Treatment : How Long : Dosage
LDN, Low Dose Naltrexone : 4/17/03 : 3.0 MG capsule, daily, 9p-3a
Franklin Time Management : 10/95 : Daily, use Planner Software and paper books.
Dr. Wayne Dyer books/tapes : 5/93 : Quite frequently review, affects me daily, 11+ years now.
My 3 Chiropractors : 12/89 : sometimes twice a week, usually twice a month, ideally once a month.
That's my main 4 Felix the Cat MS Bag of Tricks.
I rarely take vitamins but have changed my diet in the last few years, mostly recommended by my chiros and an allergist.
When I first started using Franklin Time Management, I was told to give it 30 days use and if it's for me, I'll continue using it naturally. I figured out a good routine and use for it. After a few years of using it successfully I thought I was just getting too used to it. I didn't realize it was helping me with my MS memory. If I didn't write it down, it didn't get done.
All 4 work well together. I don't think LDN would have done what it did for me if not for my chiros. Without my life changing experience with Wayne Dyer in 1993 and continued growth, I think MS depression would have done a good number on me. It's a continual battle at times.
I find that "things that work" must pass a test of time. Lots of ideas, lots of things to try, but only the ones that 'stick' and work for the long term are worthy of mention.
LDN is the latest, so far so good, but the others have been working well for me since 1995, 1993 and 1989.

The way I use the FP system is, each day I print out a day's sheet, which has everything I should/could do or need to know for that day. Then I write everything down on the right side of the page. Add anything new to the check list on the left. If I spend any money, it's on the bottom left of the page, what, where, cash/card.
Then at the end of my day, I type up into the FP program what was done, go through the check list, forwarding, moving and completing the tasks, and then I print them out in the book. The FP system is meant just to use the book for everything, one shot, by pen or pencil.
I could just use the FP program and just save each printed out page and not even bother with the books. But I got used to doing it this way, it's nice and neat. I also print out any .jpg pics I took, or anything I scan (prescriptions, referral slips, test results, license, registration, offical docs, stock trades), right into the book.
As for Wayne Dyer, that's a whole other story. I find it interesting that I found him in May 1993, and then when I was DX in 2002 I realized I had been having annual flares for 10 years. I guess, Thank Dyer, those flares didn't get to me. Yeah, a new problem every year, but we were finding Cause for them.. never realized they were all with the same root. The Causes were finding were all triggering MS exacerbations. Who knew.
His early books helped me the most, they really helped me change my life around, didn't even know I needed to. Wayne often says When the Student is Ready, the Teacher will appear. In May 1993 I musta been real ready, everyone around me witnessed my transformation.
I don't know how I'd be doing with my MS otherwise.
So there's a little bit about each..

Thanks for that, it's really helpful to know a bit more about what you are doing to self-help. I certainly have become a prolific list writer since having MS so the Franklin Time Planner could be for me!
It's a shame because I used to have an excellent memory and my husband would rely on me, but now he really can't do that!

Me too. You know what's interesting? I can still give you details of places, events, dates, times, from like 1969 on... just don't ask me to bring home any milk, unless I write it down.. and then remember to look at it on the way home. LOL
