And, cheerleader, I'm here! Thanks for knowing that I would be very interested! The abstract stated:
The effects of magnesium sulfate on cerebrovascular permeability to a dye, Evans blue, were studied during insulin-induced hypoglycemia with hypothermia in rats. Hypoglycemia was induced by an intramuscular injection of insulin.
Just for general info...hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is often the result of high insulin level (injected in this abstract; overproduced in my pancreas). I encourage insulin testing; but even if you don't test, you can assume your insulin is high at the time your blood sugar is low (other than because of fasting).
15.3 g followed by another 217 mg over the next 2.5 hrs. Isn't that dosage in the range that would cause some problems?
i think it would certainly cause some trouble in the GI tract, i guess the IM injection route dodged that bullet.
i guess all we can do besides our supplements is take epsom salt baths (always follow the instructions, you can get too much of a good thing this way) and pack it in as much mag-dense food as we can handle - magnesium in foods is easier to deal with in the gut anyway; here are some:
i only know plain. sometimes i squeeze a bit of lemon into it and a smidge of sugar which is not bad.
i tried a flavoured mag powder product and didn't like it but it was not from the natural calm ppl. sorry can't be more help!

Hey Cat, I finally called Natural Calm a few weeks ago. I didn’t know what flavor I wanted, either, so she sent me a sample packet of each one. She’d probably do the same for you. None of them were as bad as I thought they’d be, but it was good to sample them all.
I went with lemon. I think I was expecting a Metamucil-type liquidly fiber drink, but it’s nothing like that. So they were all a pleasant surprise. None of them were bad, and next time I order I'll probably get orange just to change it up a bit.
By the way, she didn’t charge me for the samples. I wasn’t trying to get something for nothing, I just didn’t want to be stuck with a whole bottle of stuff I wouldn’t use if I didn’t like it. A little bit of customer service goes a long way cuz now I’m a big fan of theirs!!
Have you ever tried mixing the plain Natural Calm with hot tea? Just a thought since I try to drink a cup at night to relax.

It seemed logical to add these tidbits to a thread already dealing wth magnesium.
With the information and urging from jimmylegs, I added magnesium to my supplements some time ago. Nevertheless, any mention of magnesium gets my attention.
Last month, on the Dr. Oz program, one topic was constipation. He suggested a person put a ground-up magnesium pill in a glass of orange juice, drink it, and solve the problem!
Today on his program one of the topics was urinary incontinence. In addition to suggesting Kegel exercises to strengthen the muscles controlling the urethra, Dr. Oz mentioned again that magnesium (even in the form of pumpkin seeds -- pepitos) was helpful. In fact, at the end of the program he reiterated that magnesium was necessary for healthy muscles.
Perhaps this information could help someone who has problems in these areas.

Additional info on magnesium: Epsom salt is MgSO4·7H2O and is 9.86% magnesium by weight. If you have a sensitive kitchen scale that measures in grams, you could weigh out 10 tablespoons and then figure out how much epsom salt, i.e., what volume, you would need to get 200 mg for example. I haven't had any problems with doses of epsom salt providing up to 400 mg of magnesium dissolved in a glass of water. However, it has been reported to have a laxative effect so avoid large doses.
