neuropsychology ques.

Has anyone been evaluated by a neuropsychologist?? Why has it been recommended at this time? What are they looking for? what can I use the results for??
I know I'm not function ing anywhere near 'my old self' so it's way too late to have a baseline study.
Are they looking for markers that can be used to gauge disease advancement?
I always thought it was the 1st step in the SS process, makes me nervous..
When I spoke to the guy on the phone, he didn't have any compelling reason to come see him. I asked him a fairly straightforward question..the same as I asking here Why?

i haven't, i don't even know what the test is like. how do you feel? was it something you described that triggered a referral to this doc?

I feel pretty awful, barely able to get myself through a day. I don't know that something I said triggered the suggestion.
My last MRI was early summer last year, so it's not that..'tis a mystery..
I'm going to fax my neurologist's office this morning.
I'll certainly go if it seems the right thing in his eyes, but I still need incentive. I'm thinking there are some coping strategies neuro psych are involved with, but yes, there's the question Ms legs, what triggered the suggestion?
I don't mind the time investment, but even a co-pay is tough, I've 1 more paycheck til rent.....

Any new medications in the mix, MS?
My hubby tried lyrica and took a fast spiral downward after two weeks...
we looked up the side effects, and depression/suicidal thoughts topped the list. We chucked the medication. He's got pain again, but his spirit is better.
Do you have a friend/family member you can check in with and talk to about your feelings? Get outside observations from them?
You've got a bunch of questions here...let us know.

I've had 3 neuropsych exams over a period of 15 years. The exams were recommended by my primary neurologist in response to concerns I had about memory weakness and a slow-down in my ability to "perform" in my profession. When I finally had to take the step a few years ago to seek disability protection, this data was very useful.

The measurements provided by this exam are a useful thing to have in your record, especially early-on to provide a base-line of your functional capacities.

I don't think you should be concerned.
