Lhermittes sign?

Post by me_x_5 »

What is this a why does it happen,is this only because you may get MS or can it be related to some thing else.Ive exprienced this but ignored it,now that im having other problems my head quickily flipped to that day and i was like oh no.

So if i had a nerve conduction study done today, should i tell them i exprienced Lhermittes sign,or would that of done damage already!
can some body tell me what and why you get this sensation.

Usually it can be attributed to a lesion in the cervical spine. Lovely electrical sensation that is just a pain in the rear. Usually happens when you touch your chin to your chest.

After developing L'Hermittes sign since December (due to a lesion in my cervical spine c4/c5) It has finally gone!! I have been free of it for 2 days now:) I hope that means that my lesion in my spine is going......

I agree JL. It's been 3 years since I had it and I still have lesser sensations of it every once in a while.

NEED ANSWERS PLEASE!!

Post by me_x_5 »

I have never had any thing at all done with mine. When i exprienced that pain shooting up my spine I just completely ignored it.And now that my body has gone out of control, ive spoke up to my doctor and said ive had that pain, and mine started at the base of my spine and went up into my the back of my head!and for 2 weeks i had spins and needles at the base of my tail bone when i would try to sit!
Now im completly worried about it and should i just ask my Doc. to give me a MRI to see if that Lhermittes sign is the problem here or go back for my second part of my NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY!any advise please!!
:?: And has anybody experience when sick,a feeling of had rolled around in insulation,i cant really explain it but now when i get sick,it feels as though, parts or all is tingling with a feeling of craziness on my skin? :?:

Hi.

I agree with JL and Chris. It is mainly caused by a leion at the cervical region of the spinal cord.

I used to have L' Hermittes back in 2001. It lasted for about a year, but it was very pronounced after a relapse I had for about a month. I can still feel it right now, but I have to strain my neck very much, only to have a tiny sensation of it.

Speak with your neurologist. I only hope it will go away for you, just like it did for me.

the docs will go through the process with the various studies and tests. keep going with the nerve conduction, and whatever else they give you like visual evoked potential or whatever. if they get to an mri, and it shows a cervical lesion, you'd know it was l'hermittes for sure - but what you describe just there does not sound exactly like it to me - although i have had sensitive skin before - but in my experience lhermitte's is a definite jolt associated with moving the neck, not ongoing spinal pain or skin tingling.
