Cell death in stroke victims

Post by bromley »

Dear all,

Article from the BBC website on the reasons for cell death in stroke victims. No mention of ms but glutamate has been discussed before on this ste. Probably of interest to OddDuck and those with a scientifc bent.

Hi, bromley!

I just read that link. Yep!! Glutamate and...........there's our good old "calcium influx" again, huh?

Well, that's just more justification for me staying on good old Norpramin (desipramine) and Keppra. Part of what both of them do is to prevent the buildup of cellular calcium ions AND stabilizes glutamate. (Sharon even found where desipramine acts on glutamate, also.)
