Quite off topic. I was trying to explain the glass half empty/half full concept to my 8 year old. He paused and looked at me very seriously with his big brown eyes and said, "Mommy, I'm thirsty."

I think whether you think it is half empty or half full depends on how thirsty you are.

If you view this video you will see and hear Garland's presentation on type 1 diabetes (IDDM, juvenile diabetes, JD). He has reiterated some well recognised facets of vitamin D and IDDM. I believe the recognition that vitamin D can prevent JD will be a major impetus in the medical community endorsing the widespread use of vitamin D to also prevent MS.

The autoimmune disease process resulting in type 1 diabetes often results in a dx early in life as the damage only has to take place for a few years to effect enough islets to become symptomatic. Thus a trial using immunosuppressive amounts of vitamin D in predisposed infants (2,000 IU/d) would show a preventative effect in 5 years or less (Direct-MS is trying to initiate one now).

JD and MS have been shown to be the same disease process and rather than try to conduct a twenty to thirty year trial to show that MS is also prevented with vitamin D, the success of JD prevention will be translated to the widespread use of vitamin D to prevent MS.

I am unaware of how old and decrepid you are but I feel that the aforementioned rationale will demonstrate, before you are dead, that MS is indeed preventable with adequate vitamin D intake.

Various theories about vitamin D have been around for quite some time and there has been a lot of research with it in the past few years. I'm not sure just what they will be able to prove in the long run but until they do, it is still theory.

As for using vitamin D to prevent MS...well, perhaps that might seem promising at the moment but there is a lot of work yet to be done.

Me...old and decrepid? Well, I just turned 60 and am in excellent health so hopefully I'll be around for a number of years yet

) Let's just say that in the last 4 decades I've seen a lot of theories come and go with MS and we still don't know what causes the disease. At least now the researchers are working in areas other than just the immune system factor but there is still nothing that I have seen that will unlock this mystery sooner rather than later.

Hi all! How do you feel about the theory that MS is all business and a cure or way to stop it has been found some long time ago, but there's no interest to disclose it, as many and powerful pharmaceutical companies would lose billions as well as hundreds of research institues would lose funding.
The same is said to be true about vaccines and most of medicines. Have you ever thought of alternative way, homeopathy for instance? Have you ever tried?

Homepathy 2 years plus. Had new double vision and major cognative issues in that time. I won't say it doesn't help- who can tell? Last dose Jan 1, 2009. If I ever remember to do it when I actually have time, I'll probably start again. Doc had me dissolving it and taking spoonfuls- takes a little time.

I don't think for one minute that someone has found a cure for MS and is hiding it. The windfall in revenue from any company that had this cure would be immense and that alone would motivate them to bring it forward.

Having said that, big pharma's part in MS over the years has been to provide long term and very expensive medications for MS patients. Almost all of their research in this area has had to do with altering the way one's immune system operates with the disease. While some patients appear to benefit from these drugs, far more don't in the long run but the revenue generation (that's why these companies are in business) has been and continues to be huge.

Many MS patients use alternative ways to treat the symptoms of the MS and many get some kind of relief. My wife use Prokarin for 7 years and that helped her a lot. But in the end, the MS ended up winning.

I think the cure exists right now. It simply hasn't been recognized and the parts haven't been assembled. But it exists right now IMHO.

Did you know that the plastic wrap box has tabs on the end that can punch in to hold the roll in place? Ken

Yes, I knew this long before I saw it mentioned on CPn Help. It doesn't stop me making a mess though, since I use the plastic wrap to cover wet oil paint.

I think I have been cured, just a few scars to heal in my brain.
