Dr. Dake is too cool

Post by Loobie »

Just out of the blue he calls me to see if "there's anything I need or any questions I may have". I actually don't think he knew that I already had a concrete date because he allluded to that but even so, to have the Dr. call and not the assistant; cool and makes you feel special. I think he was calling because they just got all my MRI's and patient history and at the bottom I wrote, and this is verbatim; I may have been high 8O . I wrote that Dr. Dake is my new middle aged white guy superhero! Hey, whatever it takes to make sure they remember you!!

He called me today too, but I was on the phone woith Jacobs setting up the doppler and MRV tests for their study. I can't wait to talk to him. He was out to lunch when I called back. These Cali docs are amazing!

Dr. Dake was the first doctor that has ever called me at home. I froze when he said who he was, because I had just sent him the Zamboni research unsolicited. I kept saying, "You called me ?" rather incredulously. I was afraid he thought I was a nut...I don't think it's a California thing (because Jeff's neuro is from here, and her bedside manner leaves something to be desired.) He's just a really cool guy.

The middle aged white guy superhero quote is priceless, Lew. I think you deserve a cape, too! Really hope your flare is calming down. Jeff sends his love....he's setting up the itunes and iphoto show for our anniversary party tomorrow night. Lots to celebrate!

I ditto everything that has been said about Dr. Dake. -----phenomenal---is the word I have been using when people ask about the doctor who did the surgery. A doctor who has the knowledge that he has, and then to be such a humble person --amazing! He was as kind and considerate to my daughter and her two young children as he was to me. His teammate Dr. Farzanegan is also one in a million.
