A question about mast cells.

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

A question about mast cells.

Post by Talisker »

Hi, does any one know if there is any research into mast cell endocytosis in people with ms? I'm just curious is all.

Hi Talisker...
Here are links to some more recent papers-
Nitric oxide, the endothelial layer, allergic reaction, T-cells, mast cells and their role in MS is a broad topic of investigation- not alot of in vivo research, but lots of mice and blood!

I second Terry, share your thoughts on this topic.

I was wondering if mast cells are trying to Endocytosis tnf-alpha at neural lessions as I found this article.

http://www.jimmunol.org/cgi/content/full/178/9/5701

Which I think means mast cells can store tnf-alpha. As most research focuses on mast cells as producers of tnf-alpha although other cells can aswell. I have also heard of research interest into tnf-alpha and tace around lession sites.

Also found these articles on tnf-alpha

http://jem.rupress.org/cgi/content/abstract/170/2/607
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articl ... id=1853008
http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/v7/n8/ ... 1120a.html

I also think tnf damages blood vessels at higher levels

http://eprints.soton.ac.uk/56074/

However, this research seems to say tnf-alpha at a certain level is protective but can become harmful at higher levels.

http://www.jneurosci.org/cgi/content/full/28/47/12199

So in summary I was wondering if mast cells regulate tnf-alpha in the inter cellular space and if so does it work in MS'ers
