Chris,
I have lower spine lesions also and was surprised that my azygous was the best of the three. I don't want to predict ANYTHING, but I was thinking that as well. My first lesions were all in the lower spine area. I only say that to note that you may be surprised as I was that the azygous was clean. I mean most of my disability is "attributed" to those lesions, but who the hell really knows?

Although I seem to be the only one so far to have an azygous vein...I have to tell you that there are many intracerebral veins that can be effected by a jug malfunction.

if y0u look at Fig3 it is pics of MR venograms of the craniocervical region. On my pic w/ the occlusion of my left jug I also occlusion of the inferior petrosal sinus (e). Also have daysons fingers and who know what areas of the body they correspond with. no my picture did not show all the veins as in this sample it look more like a pair of goggles and the two jugs leading form them. I am hoping after my follow up w/ Dr. D that these things might look better.
EDIT: that the above are flowing properly

Chris, and anyone else that might be even slightly uncomfortable in tight places I found closing your eyes for the whole procedure really helps. You have to be awake and work with the tech for good results. Close them before going in and do not even for a instant open them in the tube. Wait til your out to open them. Worked great for me. Cheers, Mark

The point of the Russian paper was that jug or BC blockage could reflux into the spinals......... This stuff reaches further than it seems it might my thinking has evolved there based on that paper.
I'm not offering medical advice, I am just a patient too! Talk to your doctor about what is best for you...
