people who have had the procedure: How is your BP?

Post by whyRwehere »

AS we have discussed before, Blood pressure seems to run really low in MS patients. My husband is no exception....he seems to be stuck at about 100/60. Has anyone improved since the operation?

100/60 is my average, a little lower or higher at times. No real change. Mark

my bp is SUPER low. it has been down to 80/50 at times. crazy. i'm supposed to drink more water. i don't have the same 'thirsty' trigger as normal people. i've been bad about drinking enough since i was an infant. i used to get searing headaches when i was in gymnastics as a teen, because of the exertion + dehydration. wonder how that ties in to all this...

Mine has stayed steady during and after the procedure, basically normal although on the lower side.

But whyRwehere, your husband's blood pressure is just low normal. Surely that is good since so many people suffer from hypertension. Mine avaerages 100/60 and has always been that way as far back as I remember. My doctor husband thinks it is excellent......Sarah

Hi Sarah,
It would be good, but it isn't exercise making it so low. He is so lethargic. We have been getting his BP monitored this summer and the nurses are always quite shocked. The last time, it was suggested that maybe he should snack on fruit throughout the day. The nurse thought he should eat more, which made us laugh, because he can eat a lot of food as it is!
I just wondered if the BP would change after the stenting, which might be a sign or cause of improved energy

Oh right, I suppose that if he is lethargic it should be higher, but people with MS do seem to have blood pressure on the low side of normal, which is th one thing in their favour. I don't know why.

I do not have normally low blood pressure. 140/90 or higher is normal for me and I have to take Maxide to keep it down to 120/80.

Jeff is 120/80...always good. He's always been fit, active, good cholesterol, not sick alot. Which is why MS was so weird...I know Lew understands that-

i believe there is a genetic component to all of these things... being physically active or living a healthy lifestyle does not exempt us from many monsters.... marathon runners can fall over from a heart attack... heck, weight is even impacted by genetics

I have high blood pressure- usually 140-150/90. When I get the least bit anxious, I can make that number soar! High BP runs in my family, and even though my cholesterol is excellent and other numbers are good, I cannot control my BP.

I have not had the procedure, but would be interested to find out if it could lower my levels- even though it seems all of you guys want the opposite.

Good question.

I'll find out.

Mel's has always been low blood pressure so we'll see if any difference is made post surgery.
