Thanks, Chris and thanks to your wife...I'll keep that info on hand...right now I'm reading up on the latest in nonprofits...

I sure hope this deal works out...it would be great to have someone helping out the CCSVIers, financially...and it sounds like a really cool job that i coiuld get into...

Lisa,
YouDaWoman! It has been paining me that I know so many MSers who don't have the resources to handle the cost. You've got the professional chops to make this happen. And everyone on this forum seems to be talented and determined, I know we all want to help salvage everyone else who has MS, now that the way is clear. But don't set any deadlines that impinge on your recovery, this procedure is fairly intense! I'm going to post a quickie note just so evreybody knows I did well, but may be a few days before I can manifest my tracking log!

Where did you get this figure Chris, and why the very alarming title for the post?

Chris, why are you so surprised?? How much would the Revimmune treatment have been out of pocket? It was just that your insurance covered that...did they even offer it to people out of pocket or at a discount? The price of a Hospital room per night in France is about 250€ but in the US in Boston it's 4000$....that just gives you an idea, why everything medical is expensive in the US. Although, I think France could use more investment...my husband was just in an Emergency Room here and it was pretty grim.

Because I know someone here in Denver who was going to go to Dake until he was told it would be 50k out of pocket with the 40% discount with Medicare. I can't hang with that.

Just to repeat and to clarify:
I previously posted
Chris - It sounds like you are going to be covered by Medicare. I was covered by Medicare, and a Supplemental Plan---I paid very little. Send me a PM if you want more info on the Medicare. Medicare paid 80% of their negotiated rate for services.

As a reminder to anyone who is going to Stanford --- if you have an insurance plan, say like Lew's, at 30/70, you can apply to the financial aid office at Stanford for help with the 30%. My understanding is they are really trying to accomodate their patients.
If you are interested in going to Stanford, you need to let Dake's staff work out the insurance stuff for you. Be sure to ask about the financial aid.

I am so glad that you are doing well, SammyJo, and I am looking forward to your log posts!

Thanks for the advice about not setting a deadline that might get compromised by my recovery or my recovery get compromised because of my wanting to meet a deadline...seriously, I did need to hear that...I have a habit of diving in with gusto, too soon or too strenuously on things and I really would not have realized that I was about to do it again...seems like a little thing, your reminder, but because you thought enough to send it, I will remember to pace myself and both things will be better for it...
