Probiotics
Probiotics
I've started taking a probiotic for a non-MS reason. I am wondering if anyone else takes a probiotic and if it has any benefit for your MS symptoms. Just curious.
Of course, you Google MS and probiotic and as usual with anything you search together with MS, you get some hits pointing to benefits.

it was antibiotics that messed me all up (for an ear infection). But I am having some heightened other symptoms lately, so who knows. That is one of the stupid things about this condition: that even normal bumps in the wellness road gets lumped into the MS ailment category.
Ah whatever, it will "pass".
thanks all.

Which antibiotic did you take? did you have additional fogginess or balance disruption when you took it? Meaning, did you feel as if you might have triggered an MS event, but it was fairly short. Now you're feeling like it "woke up" your MS and you want to take probiotics to stop it?
Consider taking a couple ibuprofens a few times a day. Ken

It would be really nice to be able to put links in here
If I have included a bad link, google the word "Scholar", click link for "Google Scholar". Search for the name of the paper and author in Google Scholar.

it was amoxycilin. I don't feel like this triggered any MS event. The antibiotic messed up the old digestion and it just seems to be taking it's time to get back on track. I am not taking the probiotic for anything else but the gut. I was however curious if anyone had seen any other good things from them.
So tell me about the ibuprofen. Does that help you with light MS symptoms, seriously?

It's complicated.
But, in a nutshell, many of us who have researched bacterial association with MS have found significant circumstantial correlating evidence that link MS events and bacterial events. One of the associations is inflammatory bacterial die-off that is often referred to as pseudo-exaserbation. One way we control these die-off events with Ibuprofen. We also take probiotcs, but those don't have side-effects. However, you could have gotten something like a runny nose from the amox. Ken

Hi,
There's a lovely little book called "Gut" by Giulia Enders. She has an few interviews on YouTube but some are in German. Everything you wondered about what happens between your mouth and you-know-where gets a very understandable treatment. If you read it you won't wonder about probiotics. She is quite famous for her work with good reason.
